It's going to be a sad day in the Unsupervised houshold tonight. Upon his return from school, spaw of Unsupervised will be told that both of his pet rats have died.
Without going into a great debate on the merrits of domestic hooded rats as a pets, these 2 sisters were never quite right.
They came from a so-called reputable breeder but for some reason, never lived up to our past experiences with rats.
These rats were dumb! There would be no mazes being run for these two. One, at 6 months (adulthood) developed the very rare problem of aggression. Drawing blood a few times.
They were also plasic eaters. This is more common in gerbils than rats but these girls practically devoured a very large and expensive rat cage. This my have contributed to their early and simultenious demise, I don't know. It is odd that they should croak within hours of each other but I can't find any sign of a cause.
The little one will be very upset. Deffective or not, he loved them.
