Why does everyone have such a huge aversion to waxing?!?! Sure it hurts (sometimes...) but its the most effective way for hair removal and definatley worth it in the long run.

Ass hair
-
I wax my vagina lol im pro-wax
-
I hope you don't mean that literally.
-
nope lmao not literal (i should really start puting explainations and the degree of seriousness on my posts)
-
Because it would be odd to have hair growing, uh, inside...not a good place for hot wax.

I beg to differ with the hair not growing back thicker. When you continue to shave the hair, you will notice a difference in thickness no matter what the length is. Read this in dermatology books, you will find out the truth.
-
Would you point me to a reference to what is commonly understood to be an old wive's tale? Or can you explain the mechanism by which shaving causes the diameter of the hair to increase? We've disucssed the natural taper of the hair, haven't we? This is from a random Web page on the subject, but there are many others:In reply to:At one time shaving was erroneously thought to encourage hair growth and increase hair thickness, but this assumption has proved to be untrue.Maybe you should toss out the hundred year old dermatology texts, and stick to MLM sales.By the way, one of your posts was missing a smiley.

From the Mayo Clinic:No. Shaving hair doesn't create new, active hair follicles. It also doesn't increase the rate of hair growth or the color or length of hair. The color, density, location and length of hair mainly depend on genetic factors as well as hormonal factors. When you shave body hair, it may feel coarse or "stubbly" for a time as it grows out. During this phase, it may be more noticeable. If you have concerns about excessive hair growth, see your doctor. Newer methods for hair removal include the use of lasers. But shaving and waxing are still acceptable and less expensive.http://www.mayoclinic.com/invoke.cfm?objectid=C8F05845-91C0-4638-9B0EA0895276D7AE&si=2765what do you have to say about that Mr. Know it all!

I'd say you made my case. Did I mention enough times that the hair shaft tapers toward the tip?
-
your best bet would probably be waxing.. if you shave it will make the tips of the hair jagged and it will probably chaffe
-
LOL... You just put your foot in your mouth. You confirmed our arguement that shaving does nothing to the thickness of the hair... only the feeling that it is coarser.
-
thats nasty!
-
No I don't agree with you..I think you forgot to read this part: The color, density, location and length of hair mainly depend on genetic factors as well as hormonal factors.
-
Look, do you have any hair clippers? Like the ones with a battery in them, that have different shave lengths? Just use that, and it's also good for getting the hair inbetween legs, and shaving down to a very small amount of hair, prior to shaving, if you're one of those people that doesn't like genital/bowel hair at all.Tis what I do, works fine, doesn't grow back twice as bad or whatever, just a regular routine..

You said: "I beg to differ with the hair not growing back thicker. When you continue to shave the hair, you will notice a difference in thickness no matter what the length is."
Then you said: "The color, density, location and length of hair mainly depend on genetic factors as well as hormonal factors." to buttress your case.
What exactly are you talking about?

What I was trying to say, as maybe I was misunderstood, it that when you continue to shave a certain area, the hair begins to FEEL thicker or coarser than it used to..that's what I was trying to say in the beginning but I think I got misunderstood.
-
It has nothing to do with continuing to shave. As soon as you shave a hair that's never been shaved before, you cut off the tapered tip, which will make it feel rougher. It doesn't cause any permanent change in the hair root; the hair's thickness remains the same. When the hair gets longer, the roughness is not felt as easily. Then eventually the hair falls out and is replaced by a new one with a tapered tip.If you shave your head, it will feel rough in a couple of days. When the hair has grown to your shoulders, it doesn't feel rough anymore. But all along, the thickness of the hair hasn't changed.
-
Steve said it all above so I won't repeat it. I think we all agree here that shaving does not "change" the hair except for cutting off the finer tip and leaving a stiff "stump" makes it feel thicker. I think we need to drop this topic.
