Hey! Well this past summer i guess you could say that i almost had skin cancer. I was on the verge of getting it then the doctors gave me some antibiotics and it went away . Well anyway I was just wondering if anyone on this site has had skin cancer before? i am kind of afraid it may be coming back. There is this funny spot on my right leg and its starting to itch. I mean could this be skin cancer? I dunno I have never seen this spot before it just appeared this past summer but does anyone think that it could be coming back? Thanks for your input!

Skin Cancer

i don't know what you had, but i'm pretty sure that skin or any other kind of cancer is not normally cured with antibiotics.i also dont' know how old you are and where you live, but here is some general information about what skin cancers may look like: A = assymetry B = borders, irregular - not round patch C = color, changing, or one part of the mole is light one is dark D = diameter, greater than 6 mm (1/4 of an inch).then you are at a higher risk if you are light skinned, especially red-headed, easily burn, out in the sun a lot, use tanning booths, and live in places like australia. and since i think that it takes a while for skin cancer to develop, older people are probably more at risk, although someone in their 20's can also get it. i think you are also at risk if you have lots of moles on your body, like over a hundred.

Yes I agree that skin cancer is not treated with antibiotics. If the spot on your leg is itching then I would suggest that you do go see a doctor.

umm I have a strong hunch she's around 14/15

lol im 14~but i went to the doctor and it isnt anything serious. Its just a spot that is going to be there for the rest of my life. I was lucky enough not to have skin cancer, but I'm still scared for the future because my family has many people that have skin cancer. Oh well I'll just have to enjoy life and not worry about this!
-
Well if your family has a history of skin cancer then you should be aware of the risks. If you are at risk, then you should be using preventive measures to lessen the risk (i.e. sunscreen, hats, protective clothing). I'm not saying you should be constantly covered, but you should be aware.

I'll keep in eye on her SDP

At'a boy.

Actually, skin cancer can be cured by anibiotics.. My mother had skin cancer and she was cured of it by taking like 8 different pills that her doctor prescribed her.

Antibiotics??? I've never heard of that and find it hard to believe. Antibiotics kill bacteria not mutated cells. Maybe there is something I missed.

For two years I kept complaining about an itchy dry spot that would heal and then get redish again and the dermatologist kept saying it was edema and to put cream on it. I just went to a new doctor and he did a biopsy and it was basal cell A skin cancer. They had to cut it out and it will leave a scar, but it was easily treatable. Any itcy spot that doesn't heal needs a biopsy!

Good that you got it taken care of. Proof that a second opinion never hurts.

I think I have too many moles, but they all seem brown and normal, but its just not too attractive...does anyone know if those moles/wart cremes work? says " Contains Lithospermum Rt, sophora Fructus, Mume, Coix, Licorice in vanishing cream base. This formula is specialized for removing the moles and wart by killing the virus which is responsible for it."
-
Some warts can be removed with a cream, but to remove moles you need to see a dermatologist.
-
what exactly are warts compared to moles? I might have to save up some $$ for removals..
