Okay - I've never had a physical before.. &I was told that if you have foreskin - the doctor will sometimes retract your foreskin when you go to get a physical. Is this true? This is really frustrating me because I cannot retract my forskin it's so tight.. I've tried stretching every night (started in december) with no progress at all.. "I can barely see the slit on my head".. Honostly, before I saw the slit on my head, I didnt even know uncircumcised guys had slits.. "I thought the doctors fixed them that way when they circumcised them".Ontop of that.. are there anyways besides stretching that will help me retract... I've tried everything I can think of.. From pulling the Forskin, To rolling a Rubber Band over my penis. (which I would not reccommend, trust me.. IT DOESNT WORK!)

Pysical / Foreskin Issues

Yes.. My friend told me that his doctor just grabbed his testicles, and asked him to turn his head and cough.. Then that was all that happened.. He's cut though.
-
I know this is going to sound awkward.. but he doesnt firmly grasp them does he? Wouldn't that hurt?
-
I wander how a doctor would respond to that? Hah.
-
Jetstreak ... Please describe in detail the stretching exercises which you have been doing. We might be able to make suggestions after we know more.

Before I was circumcised, the doctor always retracted my foreskin. He always told me ahead of time, and always told me to tell him of tightness, or any indication of any pain.

Interesting... Someone crossposted my story here already... http://www.afraidtoask.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=foreskin&Number=168928&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1I am famous

woa is that true!? a doctors not supposed to retract ur foreskin? cuz my doctor did it without even telling me and shes a girl and im a dude. was she not supposed to really tho?

Doctors should not precipitously retract the foreskin of infants and pre-adolescents, as their foreskin usually adheres to the glans penis, at least until separation occurs naturally ... usually fairly early, but sometimes not until the mid-teens. Ripping an adherent foreskin from the glans can cause painful tearing.Doctors do often retract the foreskin of an adult to make sure that everything is OK, just as they ask patients to open their mouths, and just as they insert a finger into a man's anal cavity to make sure the prostate gland is healthy.Korydon

I've actually heard that there is a chemical in semen that loosens skin adhesions and such. If you google around you'll find testimonies from guys who have stretched and such. I don't think doctors will retract your foreskin, I've never had that happen to me. But for the most part, google around and use all the resources you can. Before my first retraction, I used to always masturbate with the foreskin at the "slit" but when I actually attempted to retract my foreskin it was tight at first but eventually gave way without any injuries whatsoever. Good luck with that.

Why dont yo tell the doctor you cant retract. He might give you some cream to loosen it.
-
Some doctors will retract the foreskin to check under the glans to check for phimosis, and to check for any weird bumps or growths on the glans, and to make sure you're cleaning under the foreskin properly. Technically a doctor should retract the foreskin to check under there as part of a physical, but a lot of doctors feel that its not appropriate to. Since you can't retract your foreskin, you have a case of phimosis. This is something you should tell your doctor about, and he/she can try to treat it with topical steroid creams, or a dorsal slit, and if none of that works as a last resort, circumcision. But your foreskin should retract, and if its not, your doctor needs to know - you shouldn't try to hide this problem from your doctor. Your doctor is there to help you, not embarrass you.
-
Focus ... the preferred method of "stretching" a tight foreskin employs fingers, only. Though topical steroid creams may be used to assist in the process, they should not be relied upon.
Circumcision has been discredited as a method of dealing with a tight foreskin. Doctors who recommend cutting display only their ignorance concerning the anatomy and functional utility of the intact penis. Avoid such doctors. Their knowledge is outdated.

korydon - I realize all that. Actually, foreskin stretching employs both fingers and the penis itself, both flaccid and erect - by gradually working it down with your hands, the head of the penis naturally stretches the foreskin. I only mentioned the steroid creams as ONE possibility that may be prescribed. Of course stretching is the first step. However, if you read his first post, he mentioned he has been stretching for a long time with no results. Steroid creams are the next step if stretching doesn't work.In reply to:Circumcision has been discredited as a method of dealing with a tight foreskin. Whoa, strong words there - calm down. I'm not saying oh he's got a tight foreskin, so cut it off. In some severe cases of phimosis, circumcision is the only remaining option. Circumcision does have some instances of medical necessity - you can't discredit it in all cases. In circumstances where you've got a severe case of phimosis which doesn't respond to stretching, steroid creams, or a dorsal slit, circumcision is the only remaining solution. In such cases, its better to be circumcised than to have a tight, restricting foreskin that is interfering with blood flow, constricting erections, causing pain, and making pleasurable sex impossible. Again, this is last resort, but such cases do happen.
