Okay, so a few weeks ago i noticed pain when i was urinating so i took a urine sample and went to the doctor's. They gave me medication and told me to come back with another urine sample once i was finished taking the antibiotics. So a few weeks after nothing showed up as being wrong anymore, the pain came back and was much worse. I went to the doctors and took another sample and this time, blood showed up in the urine...so they put me on a different type of medication and again, things seem to be better. I finished my medication last Thursday. Now it's monday and i noticed blood on my panties...I'm on the birth control pill and i'm not due for my period so...i dunno what my question is but i'm really worried and i'm getting tired of going back and forth from the doctors when i have classes to attend it's hard...any ideas as to what the cause could be???

UTI

hmmm, are you taking the medicine until its gone, or are you stopping when you start to feel better? How long have you been on the pill? Is your cycle usually predictable?

I've been on the pill for about 2 years now and my periods are usually predictable and regular...i'm not done this pack of pills until saturday anyways. And yes i take the medication until it's done. I don't stop in between or anything. I take it as directed.

Oh well, I guess I'm no help.

What antibiotics were you on? Did they tell you what the infectious agent was? Did you give a sterile urine sample for culture? (That's where you don't just pee into a bottle, but use a sterile wipe on yourself before peeing into a special container.) They need to figure out exactly what bacteria is involved, and which antibiotics the bacteria might be resistant to, if it's a bacterial infection.

I don't remember the name of the antibiotic, but it was a sulfa antibiotic...They didn't tell me what the infectious agent was.I didn't use a sterile wipe. And the blood is coming from my vagina not my urethra so i'm not sure what's going on with me...but i'm scared.

If you actually don't have a UTI, none of those details really matter, except for future reference.I suppose it's possible to spot between periods, even when on the pill. I'm afraid I'll have to defer this one to the experts...I'd suggest another trip to the doctor...preferably a gynocologist.

Doctors usually prescribe Bactrim for UTI's and bacterial vaginosis. It contains Sulfa. Some women (including my cousin) are allergic to sulfa. That could be your problem. Either way you have to have it treated by a doctor.I wonder why they didn't have you give a sterile sample.
