Okay, I've been a smoker for a few years now, and I've tried so many times to quit, but alas, I can't! What is wrong with me? I don't even like the taste of cigarettes any more, it's just something I do out of habbit now and I just can't figure out how to quit. I'll stop for a few weeks (and of course without my daily nicotine fix I get very cranky and irritable) and I end up breaking down and buying a pack always promising myself that "today is the last day I'll lite one up." But you know what? It never is, so I continue to puff away. I've tried cold turkey, I've tried the gum (it makes my mouth go numb so I quit trying that), I've tried the patches (makes me have very vivid dreams that really freak me out), but nothing works! Plus it doesn't help that everyone in my family are chain smokers either. My question is, can anyone help me try and beat this nasty habbit? I just don't know what to do anymore....

Okay... Ignore the last poster... I quit about month ago, 1 week in I had a really bad craving, so I smoked one, and reliazed just how much I hate it. I havn't even thought about them since. But, I've always been like this. Just set them down. That was after about a year of smoking. Okay... Im going to shoot a bunch of ideas at you...:: Have you tryed any sort of counseling? Support groups? Try carying baby carrots with you? Sunflower seeds? Get away from the 'enviroment'? Checked out Phillip Morses website? Call any quit lines? Talked to your doctor about Zyban (I believe) or some sort of other option? Alright... Thats all the idea I have right now... Hope one helps... You can do it!! Good luck!

In reply to: no offence..but it is your own fault you are addicted. I know that it's my own fault, I'm just trying to correct a mistake I never should have made. I know I'm the one who chose to pick up a cig and start puffing away, but believe me at the time I started I had my reasons for it. now in responce to FaBMX, no I haven't tried doing those things, and I thank you for giving me some good ideas. I really appreciate them, thank you.
