I am posting this for my boyfriend, who is at work, but he's going to reply tomorrow if more information is needed...Anyway, this is the story. About four months ago, possibly even more, he had unprotected sex with a girl. Her history is unknown (we aren't sure if she has been truthful or not, but she says she's been tested and is completely clean). Well everything was fine, and then about two months later, he received oral sex from a girl. As soon as she was finished, she left, and he noticed something on his penis that hadn't been there earlier, on the shaft, near the top. It looked like a sore, only it bled a little bit. It was definetely not there before the oral sex, however, he claims there was no pain or anything during the sex that would imply biting or anything. He left it alone and let it heal... the girl didn't have any cold sores on her mouth or anything (we obviously know better than this now, as it could have been transmitted even though there were no open sores). So anyway, it seemed to be healing up, but even two months later, it hasn't completely gone away. It seemed to open up again after the first time he had sex after that. Recently, when we starting dating, we had protected sex, and it opened back up- not to the point of bleeding, but to the point that the healing process seems to had been undone. It's just one spot, about .5 cm in diameter- he says it doesn't burn or itch. There is no puss or anything like that. He hasn't felt sick, although for a while, his lymph nodes WERE swollen for about a week or so. However, the swelling occurred well after the "sore" had first appeared, and before it opened up again. Any ideas? I'm sorry I can't give more information, but like I said, he will be around this week if anyone has any questions or thinks they can help us. We really appreciate anything you guys can come up with.

Tough Problem -- Possibly HPV?
-
Here's a simple answer to a complicated question: have him go to his doctor or a clinic and get tested for STDs. As far as the sore is concerned, if it wasn't caused by something mechanical (e.g., biting), then I don't see how it's connected to the oral sex. Things like that don't flare up instantly. If it's an STD of some sort, it most likely came from an earlier experience. If I were you, I would pass on the sex until his test results came back.

As was said, he needs to have it checked out by a doctor. It isn't HPV, becasue HPV in the form of warts do not bleed or create sores as you describe.

Hey, that was my gf posting the topic. Thanks for the advice. I'm definetly going to get checked out this week.So if we think it isn't HPV, any idea what it could be?? Does it sound more like HSV?
-
HSV would be more in line with your symptoms. Definitely, have it checked out while the sore is still there. It makes things much easier and "definite" for the docotor to diagnose.

Well, I'm going to Planned Parenthood on Wednesday. Thanks for the help, and wish me luck...
-
Good luck!

Well, good news. The woman at Planned Parenthood said she didn't know what it was, but she's fairly sure it isn't anything to worry about. I'm still skeptical, though. I didn't realize that the people at Planned Parenthood weren't doctors... but I guess she knows better than me, so, meh, what're you gonna do?
Thanks for the help guys.

So this woman examined you? Was she a nurse practitioner?
-
Yeah, she examined me... asked for history, and checked me out. She introduced herself as a physician's assistant. The girl who spoke to me before the "physician's assistant" introduced her as a "clinician." She sounded like she knew what she was talking about, though. I'm not entirely sure what to think. I mean, they do that sort of thing all the time...
