In reply to:Some people already have problems that make them Produce more cells or water. That kind of thing (including hypoactive thyroid) is rare. If you go back a hundred years, you'll find many fewer people with that "problem".In reply to:Some people have a lot of muscle, that weighs more then fat and they weigh more. This is true.In reply to:Im not that fat i just have a little bit more then other people.I wouldn't worry about it. Anyone who'd go out with you if you were a certain weight, but wouldn't if you weighed 15 pounds more, is a jerk.

Does this affect you much?

Men, at least the ones who are actually worth investing time in, are not fixiated on weight as much as the media tells them to be. I am also 5'6", and I weigh a little under 180. Not to sound conceited, but I dont have trouble getting asked out. Its all about confidence, maybe because you used to be unhappy about your weight, guys didn't ask you out.

It's actually a little more common than you think. More than 20 million Americans (this is Americans alone) have some type of thyroid disorder. Most are women and the most common disorder is hypothyroidism. Several years ago that number was approximately 13 million. It's commonly missed or left undiagnosed. And many people actually just chalk it up to aging or stress. It cause mild depression and some doctors and scientists say that if left untreated can cause major depression. One of the more "obvious" signs is excessive unexplained weight gain (I say "obvious" because it's not actually obvious...it's just a sign that is more commonly associated with hypothyroidism). Others included aching joints that mock arthritis, cold intolerance, thinning and dry hair, brittle nails, low sex drive, cold hands and feet. If left untreated myxedem can occur and death. But the good thing is that it can be treated. However it's a lifelong medication. Anyhow...that's not what this is really about but I just thought I'd tell you it's more common than it used to be and it's rising very rapidly. But Java_Addict as long as you're happy with who you are now that's all that matters. I was very unhappy at the weight I used to be so I did something about it. I'm a lot healthier and happier now. If you're happy with yourself then good for you girl!

i've been attracted to some overwheight girls, mostly older woman, but I'd say i'm more attracted to thin woman, probaly because I run collegiate track here in the states. So the people i'm around are thin and so am I. You are attracted to what you see and what your familiar with

Im about 5'6 and like 170lbsIf you're regularly consuming things like Starbucks Caramel Frappuchinos, you might want to give more thought to your diet. They have a lot of calories. (Venti Caramel Frappuccino = roughly 40 grams of fat, and 500 calories, according to a Starbucks employee.)

Got any whole wheat toast and organic peanut butter and strawberry preserves (unsweetened)?
I've been trying to stay away from the hi-cal Starbucks drinks...just regular or decaf (if it's late) with a little cream and just one sugar. But then I keep buying the cookies. Can't win. It takes a lot of stationary bicycle time to burn off one of their cookies.
