most birth control pills don't so much change your period, as make it more predictable, most forms of birth control on the market are as reliable as eachother, tho none are 100% effective, nothing is. You need to get a prescription for them from a doctor, not sure how it works with a family planning centre i have only ever got them from my doctor. It usually takes a full course (1 month) before you have unprotected sex, but you will get told the info you need when you get them, plus there should be information in the packet. How do you tell your mum? now thats the question. I guess sitting her down and saying that you want them, I don't think there is any easy way for a parent to hear her child is thinking of having sex! But, at your age i would still use condoms too, unless your in a steady relationship with someone you know hasn't got anything, as of course the pill doesn't protect against STD's.

she would stare and then throw me out a window

say what ? ! ! ?

well to be honest i would be appalled if my daughter came to me wanting birth control at 13, there is no way your emotionally ready for it - but at least your thinking the right way if you are going to do it anyway. If you're not gonna be able to talk to your mum about it, then i can't see how your going to get it at your age, over here you have to be 16 before you can get it without parents knowledge/consent. Maybe its time to actually enjoy being your age instead of trying to grow up too fast.

erm ill use condoms less mum confrontation

wow, I didn't even get kissed till I was 18 and out of high school. And people are having sex at 13-14 years old and getting pregnant. This is nuts!
