I know that Herpes doesn't kill you, and that the outbreaks decrease over time. So what is the point of medication? I mean, is it necessary to get treated? If your symptoms are mild/non-existant then what's the big deal? Is there something I don't know?

Well for one you're leaving out the fact that you can transmit that disease to someone else. So regardless you always have to be careful of that. As far as the treatment, symptoms do not always decrease over time. You may get as little as one outbreak or get continuous outbreaks as your immune system gets lower. This can be caused by fatigue, stress, illness, things of that nature. So imagine, every time you get fatigue from having to wake up early for, o lets say a week straight, you get an outbreak. Well the point of the medication is to either decrease the severity of that outbreak, or in some cases prevents it, however wont cure it. So that to me is worth the medication. sores hurt like a bitch so i would do it lol
