Top 10 signs you're a fundamental christian
-
I don't believe as you do, but neither am I egotistical enough to tell you that you believe in something false, some fantasy. It is the exact same thing that the fundementalist Christians are accused of doing, and castigated for. So either way it is wrong.Religion as itself is not a bad thing. Only when this religion is expressed by the various people does it become either a bad or good thing. I will suggest that those who are adamant in their religious expression AND those that are adamant in their religious bashing are ONE AND THE SAME TYPE! What most of the posts on this thread focus on is not the religion, but the way it is expressed. The anger is directed at the way it is expressed, which means that folks that get upset about this expression want to beleive in some religion, but are stopped because of the way many express their religion. These bashers desperately want to believe, and are the MOST idealistic, the MOST religious.

"I believe in God."
"I believe in Zeus."
"I don't believe in God."
None of the above statements is more valid than the others. They all imply, "...and you're wrong if you disagree with me". But it is incumbent upon the person who makes the affimative statement to make their case. Certainly no one has proven the existence of God, and the evidence presented is rather ridiculous. And you don't have to be a fundamentalist to make the first statement.

Irrational belief has some bad ramifications. And it's intellectually dishonest.

What exactly are you talking about? You are really hung up on the reverse psychology thing. Next you'll be saying that judges and policemen actually are the MOST criminal. -

Around here, you're bigger than Vishnu.

I'll stop murdering and bible-thumping people of other religions as soon as they just accept Jesus Christ as their only Lord and Savior.Personally, I'm fine with atheists, as long as they don't ever speak. Freedom of Speech is for god-fearing Christians. While I do agree fundies are dumb to ever try to help you stubborn stupid people, I do respect that they're doing it out of the good of their hearts and you reward it with abuse that comes only of anger. You're like any other sinner. You can tell if a sin is really wrong, if someone who commits it becomes obsessed with it. Homosexuals who live their lives according to who they have sex with. Atheists who will sit around and talk about how stupid Christians are(which Christians don't do on the flip side by the way). Adulterers who withdraw and put their whole lives into their affair. You see where I'm going with this. But hey, why argue logic! I'll save the logic for the rational, and the insults for the irrational. Have a nice night.

Your intellect is so transcendent that we don't know when you're serious.

In reply to: which Christians don't do on the flip side by the way bwaahahahahahahhahahaha, yeah right, they don't do it

Bill Maher on religion...
"When I hear people say 'I'm a Christian,' I don't hear 'I'm better than you,' I hear 'I have a neurological disorder.'"
"Religion makes people do crazy things," Maher continued. "Religion stops thinking, impedes progress and screws up priorities."
"So many of these born-agains, these evangelicals, when you hear them speaking, no matter what the question is, they can't leave Jesus out of it for two seconds. It's OK when you're a child. Children have an imaginary friend. When you get to be an adult, no more imaginary friends. But Jesus is their imaginary friend. Everywhere they go, everything they do, Jesus is along. Oh, Christ."
"Flying planes into a building was a faith-based initiative."

In reply to: "Flying planes into a building was a faith-based initiative." Not from Jesus' followers, though.

You're right. That did not comport with the subject of the thread. But it was funny in a sick way.
-
yes.
-
Now that I think about it, I'm kind of disturbed that I used the word "funny".

I've stayed out of this conversation for as long as humanly possible because as a Christian myself I like to at least try and lead by example. I, however, am not without fault. But I have to say that you sound like a fundamentalist yourself. You are forgetting some very important things about God, Christ and His teachings.Do you know know that the Bible is a double edged sword and that the same words you are using to 'help' could actually be doing more harm than good?Freedom of speech is for EVERYONE. There are certain unalienable rights that everyone is priveledge too even people who do not believe in God. But I maintain the right to tell someone to 'get out of my face' if I don't like what they're saying or I can leave. I will normally just walk away."Stubborn, stupid people" huh? Do you realize that our job is not to MAKE people get saved. All we were sent to do was lead them to the word of God. That is it. It's not our job to save them. That's God's job. WE can't save anyone. Only He can do that. I think it's very ignorant of you to assume that we could ever do anything like that when we are so far from perfect. We can't save people because of we're not perfect and when we try to save people we are met with contempt because of the very fact that we are human and very fallible. God isn't. He's perfect. Therefore - He is the only one that is capable of saving anyone. You can commit a sin and not be obsessed with it. Sin is sin is sin is sin. And I, just like you, will have to answer for any and all sins I've committed. Homosexuals, atheists, adulterers, murderers, thieves, liars...doesn't matter. We are ALL sinners. And sure Christian fundamentalists DO talk about how "stupid" atheists are. But there are some atheists who are quite smart.Your logic makes no sense and you make people think that all Christians are the same. I don't want anyone grouping me with you. I understand what my job as a Christian is. I, however, am not perfect - and neither are you for that matter so knock yourself off the pedestal you've placed yourself on. You don't have any idea the damage you have done. Don't act like you're so righteous you're without fault.

OneDamageNuke put up several trolling posts toward the end of his tenure here. He considered himself a deep intellect, way beyond the comprehension of the rest of us. He's now off writing a book, where he'll better be able to collect and organize his thoughts. He had some unorthodox views on the treatment of depression.

I've got some unorthodox views on how to club him over the head...okay..well not really but I thought it sounded good. lol Nice to see you Steve. Good morning.

In reply to:lots of absurd things can't be disproved In fact, sometime around 340BC, Aristotle proved that it is impossible to prove a negative, so nobody will ever be able to prove that InSearch isn't God although it may become obvious at such time as some other person proves that he/she is

if this old thread can be bumped again, then anything is possible!

In reply to: Atheists who will sit around and talk about how stupid Christians are(which Christians don't do on the flip side by the way). Hehehe...a committed Christian who apparently has never encountered another committed Christian before. I don't normally resort to personal insults but I have to say...what a pillock Here are the reasons why you're a pillock: You and people like you were directly responsible for more than 120,000 child deaths in the USA alone, in 2004. In fact, people like you, who share your espoused world view, actually murdered more than 600 of those children (source: US department of Health and Social Services report cross-referenced with Bureau of Justice statistics sourcebook online) rather than just causing their deaths as you did with all the others. You are indirectly responsible for the deaths of more than 30m people across Africa in 2004/2005.You are both directly and indirectly responsible for more than 25,000 confirmed deaths in Iraq so far, a number which is rising daily. You are directly responsible for the fact that hundreds of thousands of people in the UK and the USA are living in poverty and will probably die before their time. You are directly responsible for the rise of teenage pregnancies across the developed world and for the rise in teenage abortions and the increasing rates of sexually transmitted diseases amongst teenagers in the developed world. You are directly responsible for the deaths of 11 US doctors and for the fact that a further 600 have moved away from areas where they are desperately needed and for the fact that a further 2800 have left the medical profession altogether. You are directly responsible for the rise of sex crimes across the US and the UK and have almost certainly contributed to the sexual abuse of more women and children than any prisoner currently incarcerated anywhere in the world. While I would never mock Christianity itself (or any other religion for that matter), the particular brand of fundamentalist Christianity that you preach is sick, evil and perverted. If you don't realise that, you need to put down your comic book and start reading about the world in which you choose to live.Have a happy life
