And you, Mr. I-Hate-the-World?
-
Imaginary Friends
-
I'm tired of talking to you.Discussion over.
-
he can be nice when he wants to, you can to.
-
Sadly, niether one of them will be nice in the same thread.
-
i think its sort of funny, most people on here are nice just not around some people (no1sexpot and steve, insearch and steve, insearch and pink,)
-
Exactly.
-
Maybe when you are young, but as a teen?? Something doesn't seem right.
-
i think its sort of funny, most people on here are nice just not around some people (no1sexpot and steve, insearch and steve, insearch and pink,) On an anonymous forum, the person doesn't matter. What the person say matters. Some people habitually say things that are annoying and/or offensive. I am nice to some people some of the time, and not nice to the same people at other times. It depends on what they say.I do have a low threshold for self-indulgent B.S., and I-don't-have-to-explain-why crap, even from a moderator. There are no gods on this forum, although, for the most part, I'd pretty much just believe what Ineligible or sdp or focus or korydon say, for example, if they're saying something in an area that I think they have expertise. But if you give someone a two word response from on high to a difficult question, and someone asks you why, and you say, "Because that's just the way it is", you you just might be an ass. While I'm on this tirade, doesn't bold purple font say: "Look at my post! It's more important than the others! Not that any of that has anything to do with the topic of this thread.

In reply to:
a scientific survey recently said that people who have imaginary friends when they are young tend to be more intelligent and creative.
SHIT! wuts happend to me?!? maybe my child hood imaginary friend has turned me into a JERK
-
In reply to:On an anonymous forum, the person doesn't matter.I have to disagree with you on that, Steve. There are people behind the imaginary nicks, and I think how they feel matter, even if you don't know their names (indeed, why should names, or appearance, matter?).
-
i agree on that, i think that on anonymous forums people are going to be more likely to show who they really are, because there are no after effects in your day-to-day lives.
-
Going back to the original topic, I agree with SteveA. Long hasn't said that he actually "hears" the friends as if they were actually speaking to him (if he did, that would suggest schizophrenia). It sounds more like an unusually active imagination.
-
I really don't think I have schizophrenia. So no one here thinks its normal, not even to kill boredom?
-
Nope.
-
No, sorry mate not especially the way you described "them":"I have 4. A kleptomaniac girlfriend, a really funny tranvestite, my imaginary clone and Jerry Garcia's ghost. "Seriously, see a shrink.

In reply to:While I'm on this tirade, doesn't bold purple font say: "Look at my post! It's more important than the others! Hey steve FUCK OFF.............what the hell have I ever done to you?And NO it doesn't mean my posts are more important than anyone elses, it just means that I wanted purple fucking bold text, so I have purple fucking bold text............and if you think the fact that you don't like it is gonna change it, think again.............
-
I was waiting for your response to that Well said
-
Long,Do you actually hear voices as if they were real? Can you describe how these friends manifest thenselves in your mind? It might help us understand.
-
Angel has excellent advice to give (especially on women issues and sexuality) and I think her purple font just shows some of her personality.
-
Sounds to me like Long just tinkers around with these characters in his head when he's bored, which is pretty much what anyone who writes fiction has to do at some point or another, I wouldn't say it's at all unhealthy. I've always had "imaginary friends" imbued in props. When I was little I thought they were really real, and then as I got older I would choose really small items and imbue them with zany personalities (I would purposly make up) to amuse my friends. I still pull them out when I feel ignored by my friends to scare them into paying more attention to me. Nothing gets a cell phone addict to say "I gotta go, I'm having lunch with a friend" faster than pulling little toys out of your purse and having them talk about said cell phone addict! I also like to talk on behalf of my pets and some people might say that borders on imaginary friend-ism.(By the way, I support AngelWitch's font choice, too. It's just a personal expression like an avatar. As long as I don't have to highlight it to read it I don't think personal fonts are a cry for attention at all.)
