Im 18 and I think I may have slight OCD.Im not 100% sure that I do but I often check things a few times to see if I have done what I was meant to. For example, after I use the oven, I check about 5 times if I have turned the dial right to 0 (off). Also, if I go downstairs at night and turn on a light, then when I go back up stairs, I always go downstairs again later to check if I have turned off the light I had on before. I can do this several times some nights too. I check if I have locked the door several times too, especially at night. I sometimes even check the toaster a few times after making toast to check if its still not still trying to toast nothing (because ive taken the toast out and eaten it)I havent been in any trauma's such as house fires, burglery's or anything, so I know it wont be down to that.Is it possible I have mentally just got into a way of thinking this is the way to do things because my dad always tells me to turn lights off when not in use, make sure the oven is off etc.Is it a common thing for late teen's to feel like this?I dont want to tell my parents about it because it sounds a little silly to be honest. Is there anyway to get over this, or will I be like this all the time now? Thanks in advance for replies Edit - I have just thought of another thing I do. I have a USB pen drive that I take to school. I put it in my pocket after the lesson and for some reason I always go back to the computer I was at to check if I left it in there.

First things first: A LOT of people think they have OCD for the same raesons you described, when it's really not OCD.I know exactly what you mean, I do it too ... but I think I do it because I can't remember if I did something or not ... I have a real bad memory especially when it comes to things that I JUST did not half a second ago... for example...After I take a shower I close the shower curtain .... right after I close it and turn around I cannot remember if I closed it or not, so I have to turn arond to see if I did ... then minutes later I'll be like "did i check if i closed it?" ... it drives me crazy but hey, what can I do ... I'm pretty sure I don't have OCD though ... even though many people have suggested it ... I dunno
