I have one section of my gums where it seems like it has started to deteriorate or recess downward (on my lower jaw) what is this and why is it happening. P.S. I have braces i'm not sure if that has anything to do with it but i thought i would list it

My gums

This can be due to hard tartar forming next to or under the gumline. It needs to be dealt with or it can damage the tooth. You should see your dentist.

What's worse, it'll damage your gums, and your teeth will fall out. If your gums are sore, you really need to see your dentist.I don't know how it works with braces, but you have to floss to keep your gums healthy.

My dentist has mentioned and my orthodontist (for those who don't know he's the one who deals with my braces) has mentioned it also. He pointed out that to the left of it my gums are kind of swollen (or irritated), he said it may and prolly is caused in part by my braces, he also said that once i get them off the part that is swollen will go down and hopefully that will fill in the empty space which is where he believes the swollen part came from. Does that make sense to any of you cuz I'm hopin' he;s right

It sounds like you're saying that the swelling is caused by irritation of the gums from touching them, as opposed to tartar buildup on the teeth. The problem with the latter is that it can cause irritation and infection of the gums, which will cause them to recede, which will cause your teeth to loosen. It seems that your situation is that the braces are irritating the gums, and it sounds like your dentist (and presumably your orhtodontist) have a handle on it. Is it uncomfortable? Are you getting the braces off any time soon?

it's not uncomfortable but recently this has been a little bit (a very little bit) of pain or irritaion whichever you would call it. (this is my front tooth on the lower jaw)
As for getting them off I may get them off within the next 11 weeks. I have to go July 26 for an x-ray of my jaw and then if it is all aligned then i will get them off most likely within the first 7 weeks after that x-ray
