Breast cancer

It could well be a cyst, but you have to see a doctor and find out. Don't let worry put it off.

**I very much doubt that a cancerous lump would grow to that size in a month, so there are lots of other things it could be hon, try not to worry, You definitly need to get yourself checked out again, if just for your piece of mind. Good luck, let us know how it goes *hugs* **

Yeah, even if it is nothing, it can't hurt just to have it checked out. Chin up and smile!

your lump not likely to be cancer as you had a breast exam the prior month. it is probably a cyst due to hormonal change that occurs as part of your normal cycle. discuss it with your doctor to get some peace of mind.

Hey there MiniC,First things first I think you should be commended on your awareness of your body and for being alert to the possibility that something may be wrong. So many people are either totally ignorant of their bodies or become scared when they notice something different and try to ignore it - hoping that whatever it is, it will go away. There are a number of possible causes for a lump in your breast, and you are right to consider a tumour. It is however extremely unlikely for someone of your age to develope breast cancer but it great that you are on the ball. You will notice changes in your breasts throughout your cycle that include tenderness and sometimes even lumpiness. This is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. If you are taking an oral contraceptive pill, you may also notice changes, but they are usually less severe as your homone levels become artificially regulated. What you need to look out for are any irregularly shaped lumps or bumps, any discharge from the nipple and any lumpiness under your arms (in your armpits). Breast cancer can run in families, so if your mother, grandmother or any aunts have had breast cancer you should continue to keep a look out for any changes. If you are concerned, it is best to see your doctor, who should organise a breast ultrasound for you. Mammograms are not useful for a woman of your age because the breast tissue is too dense and can hide any nasty lumps.
