My fiancee's mother is driving me nuts. And my fiancee for that matter. The other day, my fiancee came home to find all his stuff rearranged in his apartment, we figured out that his mother illegally copied a key of his condo in order to go into his place and snoop on the two of us and also to clean up is place (as she says it is never clean enough). He is 29 years old and he is an only child so I think that perhaps she is upset that I am taking him away from her. The thing is she denies she was in the apartment but we have so much evidence that says she was (she won't admit it because she knows how mad my fiancee will get at her, probably)The thing is, my fiancee is mad, not taking his mother's side, but we don't know what to do to get her to stop. My fiancee says she has been going through his stuff since he was little and has always been of a controlling nature. We just want some suggestions - we want to do the right thing, by cutting her out of our lives completely is pretty harsh, but we don't know what the alternatives are.We are changing the locks on his place obviously - any one out there have advice on insane mothers in laws???Thanks in advance...

Mother-In-Law Driving me Insane

Cutting her out of his/your life is pretty extreme. He (note I said he) needs to lay down the law and put a stop to her meddling. He has to put limits on what she can and can't do. Easier said than done, but he needs to stick to it.

He also needs to change his locks (or lock cores).

Sometimes, with that sort of mother, totally cutting them out is the only thing that works, unfortunately. They just can't help "helping".

Yeah, but that needs to be the last resort.
