I chose to ignore the comment they made but true, veryyyyyyy true, thanks for the reply

Wondering Conservative

Your views on currency exchange rates are primitive and ill-informed. How do you explain the rapid drop of the dollar against the Euro over the course of two years? You understand the the dollar is not backed by gold, right? You also must realize that there's a difference between inflation and exchange rates. While the U.S. dollar lost a lot of value versus the Euro, inflation was relatively slight. The value of a currency has a lot to do with how much confidence currency traders have in the underlying economy. In some ways a currency to a country as a stock is to a corporation. (Stocks can also be very volatile, whereas the liquidation value of a company changes slowly.)______Do you think everyone was a hippie in 1969? They were a very small part of the population. Do you think it's possible that people who are politically conservative tend not to be attracted to the life of a liberal arts professor? Compared to being an executive at a company, the pay is not very good.Anyway, it's not true that all liberal arts pofessors are liberals, and it's certainly not true that professors who teach other things are leftists.

> I dont believe anyone should complain about fox AT ALL.
Even if they present things in a clearly misleading or false way? Whether or not CNN is worthy of critcism, how does that let Fox News off the hook?
> every other big new's channel is mainly to the far left.
The far left? Can you back that up, or are you repeating the party line? People on the far left think all media is conservative, more concerned with the interests of their corporate parents. People on the right think it's a leftist conspiracy. Maybe the news media is somewhere in the middle, and it's the extremists who are out of what.
> The idea of taxing welfare is insane.
Do you mean income tax or what?
> Spreading democracy in the Middle east will weaken and lower the amount of terrorist centers
We sure don't seem to be heading toward a definitive victory in that area. Meanwhile, we'ere pissing off a lot of people who may be motivated to seek revenge. World terrorism has increased overall since the Iraq war began. And since the U.S. didn't bother to secure the Iraqi weapons depots, a lot of bad people now have a lot more weapons.
> lowering taxes increases the flow and spending of money, which accually helps the economy. Will inturn, give the goverment more money
David Stockman, Reagan's budget director, called supply-side economics "voodoo economics". Given your logic, why not reduce taxes to 0? That's silly? OK, then tell me how you determine the exact tax rate that will get the government maximum revenue, if that's your goal.
> I care more about the rights of a victim then the rights of a criminal, Paying off judges and jury is sick and wrong
Paying off? WTF are you talking about? Why can't we care about everyone's rights? Becuase by "criminal" you mean "alleged criminal". Not everyone who goes on trial is guilty. And it's not like there haven't been any wrongful convictions. There have been a lot on death row; imagine how many there have been for non-capital offenses.
> I think when women said they wanted to be treated like men, they ment they wanted the same job oportunities and freedoms as men. They didn't have in mind the fact they would accually be TREATED like men, with the cursing, butt slaping, wreslting, you know.
Is the second sentence a slap at a caricature of a 60's women's libber? The stuff you mentioned is not acceptable in a workplace by anyone toward anyone.
> women and men who try too hard to be like the other cause problems for eachother. Men and women are different, the man can do things naturally that a women cant do as naturally and visa virsa. women can do things naturally that a man cant do as naturally
Like having babies? No kidding. But there's no reason that a female burger flipper / engineer / doctor should get paid less than a male one, right?
> no real opinion on gay marrige, I would find is perfectly acceptable to call 2 men or 2 women living togeather a union, but not so much a 'holy matrimony'
That's nice. Why don't you write some "conservative" legilators and try to convince them of the merit of your position?
> If buisnesses stoped paying people mininum wage, there would be less homless people, and the government might not do spend as much welfare. Therefor, giving no one an exuse not to have a self providing lifestyle.
In most places, I'm not sure how you can eat, ride the bus, and pay for a place to live on minimum wage. What accomodations and "lifestyle" do you think someone can provide at $4 an hour?
> WEll... that's pretty much it, i dont hate bush like 70 percent of my class, but i wish he would improove with his speaking skills, stop saying um... or studder between sentences. I personally dont hold it against him, he was a governer not a senator. but still he should work on his speaking skills.
His speaking skills are the least of our problems. Listen to the speeched he made before he was president. He didn't sound like such a retard. Either he's had a brain injury, or he's putting on a down-home act.
Our problems are the fact that he went to war under false pretenses, with no plan for victory, at the cost of over 100,000 lives, including 2000 American ones, with many, many more maimed (and cut verteran's benfits at the same time); drove the deficit up to a near-record percentage of the GDP, while the national debt spirals; has never vetoed any bill, much less a spending bill; is seriosly eroding environmental protection (is mercury contamination a problem?); he seems to have little respect for civil liberties, or just leaving people alone; the list goes on and on.
What ever happened to the conservative idea of getting the government off people's backs?

Here's a good question for any critiziser:how would you run a country?oh yes, like most things i said the far left is an exageration. Opservation: it's easier for somone of the oposite thinkers to know when another news channel favores one party. you know the fox favor republicans, i know abc favors democrats. Why? because of what they do. Somone or somthing that/who is bias doesn't lie, they just present somthing in a way that attacks somone or somthing. Fox presents it in a way to attack bush bashers, ABC presents it to attack bush. kinda funny when you say it in a cycle Oh yes i did make a mistake when i said that. i ment to say that taxing social security is insane. by this, i meen that once someone has retired, the government will start taxing the money that goes into that persons social security. I'm not sure if this is happening or not, either way it's silly to tax a tax. The economy is down spiraling?Anyone saying that is making a guess based on what he wanted to happen. why? because he sees thing on TV that make him angry, things that are depressing. The same thing goes with that "fake document of a sertain presedents war record. it was done on microsoft word (how can you tell? the text looked more like somthing from a computer and not a type writer)do you know what the real problem about this country is? A political party can no longer base it's ideals on opinions, but on "truths" because everyone twists the story. now, i did say that a news channel can present things in a way that blames or attacks a person. but let me use you as an example, you were clearing told/or learned yourself, but obviously from a source that the economy was screwed. i was told the economy was improoving after clintons term ended. What does this tell you? 2 different people, telling 2 different stories. This is why i try to write opinions and not facts. because opinions are always right, but let me explain what i meen.if i said " i think that _______"or " i believe that ______ " it's undebatable. Because it's what i think, you cant tell me, Hee... you dont accually think that. you can however, argue if it's true or not. and that's arguing if it's a fact or not, which cant always be trueWhich is our problem, people lie so much that repbulicans are debating over what's factual and what's not. instead of arguing over what they think they should do, and why. the fact is, Fox is bias, i understand that. what i dont understand is why you care so much that it exists, it's never made a story on you before? My opinion goes, both paries lie, why, because they're opinion strafes from the truth.BTW: teddy was an independent, he liked neither party at the time.
-
how would you run a country? That's a pretty broad question. Shall I start the 500-page essay now? Anyway, suppose a surgeon operates on you and screws you up because he's grossly incompetent. You might not be able to tell him how to perform the operation correctly, but you have a right to expect that someone who gets paid to do the job knows how to do it.In other words, it's not a requirement that a critic say how things should be done.> Fox and ABCI'm sure you can find examples of bias in ABC news, but comparing ABC's bias to the left with Fox News' bias to the right is ludicrous. ABC makes some sort of attempt to present news; Fox News knows that "fair and balance" is just a slogan to piss off humorless liberals--its political coverage is all propaganda. I invite you to view the DVD documentary "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch’s War on Journalism".> the fact is, Fox is bias, i understand that. what i dont understand is why you care so much that it exists, it's never made a story on you before? No, it's not just biased. It's far more biased than CNN, NBC, etc. I care because a lot of people who vote take their stuff seriously. People love "news" that confirms their biases.> My opinion goes, both paries lie, why, because they're opinion strafes from the truth. That's how they get elected, but no one in modern American history has massaged the truth the way the Bush administration has. Chaney was talking about Saddam attacking the U.S. on 9/11 long after even Bush admitted it was false. The "Patriot Act"--if you don't support every aspect of it, you're supporting the terrorists. Social Security reform--people aren't falling for his nonsense.Have you noticed the "town hall" media events they've put together for Bush? The people in the audience are pre-screened to already agree with the administration's position. It's all a sham.> BTW: teddy was an independent, he liked neither party at the time.He was a Bull Moose. So maybe you should support Ralph Nader.
-
you think i agree with the green party?you'd be suprized to hear this steve, i agree with you. Why? fox news is 90 percent politics, right wing poltics but lets stick with words by true definition. ABC CNN CBS is about 50 percent poltics. personally the reason i find them to the left was then CBS posted the story about the 'so called war records' over and over, until somone came out and said "it's so obvious these are fake" and i know even more so that fox is right wing because they constantly posted reports of the fakes afterwards. I'd like to get your feedback on your issue. i probably would be a democrat if i wasn't surrounded by a grade of students who call themselfs democrats. I dispise them, They're reasons for being democrats are beond stupid. I'll give you an example, even if this is a lie, his interpretation is... i'll just tell you. he saw colalition efforts in afganistan, you know, soldiers surrounded by poor people pulling crates of water bottles out of helicopters and tanks and handing it out to people, that kind of stuff. He believed the soldiers were suplying weapons and food to the terrorirsts. for awhile i found it funny, until i relized he was being serious. (i'll tell you somthing afterwards)do you think the democrats interviewed on fox are just pressured. or just pretend democrats.i dont think liberals are communists, if your the kind of person that thinks the government should take care of everyone and everything, and basically do everyones job, that's ok. it probablys meens you agree with communisim at one level or another, you dont really have to be a political party. with opinions i may be a republican, with facts i'm independent since i know nothing.
-
you think i agree with the green party?Nader is independent. Isn't that why you like Theodore Roosevelt? If not, then why do you like Roosevelt?fox news is 90 percent politicsThat is largely biased to the right, as you agree.> ABC CNN CBS is about 50 percent poltics. That is biased to the left? Are you saying that 50% of what they report is left-wing propaganda? Can you back that up, or is that just your biased opinion?> the 'so called war records'I don't know what you mean.I also don't understand the hellicopter story, but if I were you, I'd be more concerned about what the politicians think than what the students you despise think. You're a long way from voting though, so I wouldn't sweat it.> do you think the democrats interviewed on fox are just pressured. or just pretend democratsI'm sure that the relatively small number that come on do so voluntarily. Do you think CNN is holding guns to the heads of all the conservatives that appear on that network? So, what does the word "liberal" mean to you? It's been twisted by folks on the other side to mean "dirty bastard". Here are the first two definitions from Dictionary.com:In reply to:Not limited to or by established, traditional, orthodox, or authoritarian attitudes, views, or dogmas; free from bigotry.Favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded.

hee, i would like to thank you for standing up to these people, i've been at a swim meet for the past two days, and will continue for the rest of the weekend. One thing i'd like to say real quick cause i got to get to bed...
a day of Fox is equal to a phrase that comes out of the telapromter reading fools on ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, or etc. You want me to back it up, you watch it as an independent instead of a conservative hating demoncrat. And as for Teddy rosevelt, the democratic or even Bull Moose, which i think i was progressive if i am not mistaken, party of today is like the socialist of yesterday. Even conservatives have leaned over, there a very few palenoconservatives left, most are neo- or "compasionate" which is kind of ironic. Good night all you degenerates! -
Oh steve, i got a deffinition for liberal that isn't from your dictionary.com crap...
Liberal- A person so "open-minded" they brains have fallen out. I know, thats probably old by now -
That's really clever. I think I understand where you're coming from. How about if you get some news from another source than the TV? It sounds like Fox News is your church, but there are lots of other sources. Do you ever read or listen to anything that doesn't fall into line with your political views, which you are unwilling or too lazy to defend? You might actually find logical stuff that justifies what you believe. The possibilites are endless.
-
In reply to:a day of Fox is equal to a phrase that comes out of the telapromter reading fools on ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, or etcSo what you're saying is that one phrase said by any one of those networks is worth as much as watching a whole day of Fox. Damn, what have I been doing watching Fox when I could get as much fact from one phrase of another station.Nah, just kidding, I don't watch much American news. I prefer to watch Canadian news, as I find that the news here covers a far wider range of issues (global and local) than what I'd usually see on American networks. Unfortunately, I don't know much about the differences between most American networks since I don't watch them often. There's two things that I can't stand about your posts. First of all, you're an asshole. I don't need to back it up with with my words though, you do a great job yourself In reply to:Good night all you degenerates!Next, is the fact that you don't put enough time into your posts to make them make sense. In reply to:And as for Teddy rosevelt, the democratic or even Bull Moose, which i think i was progressive if i am not mistaken, party of today is like the socialist of yesterday.I have no idea what topic (or 4 topics?) you were trying to talk about in that sentence. It doesn't make any sense.I love my view of politics, since I have some family members who are very conservative (Alberta is one of the few places in Canada that is primarily conservative) and some who are very liberal in their views so I. I've learned to open my eyes to the broad range of issues and CONSIDER things for myself. This is to everyone who is strongly opposed to one side of the political spectrum, try opening up and looking at the faults and advantages of both sides as if you weren't trying to defend either one, but rather choosing which one is the best for you. It may just open your eyes to a greater view of things. Looking at how you opened the thread, you started out real well. "No bashing" you said, then you start bashing people's views? Why don't you follow the words you opened with, as they were actually quite good.

I've made my judgements of my political opinion by what i see in the world. What i'm disgusted by in the mainstream media, or what i find out by talk radio. I could side with a libertarian in some things, but when it comes down to economy, the government shouldn't have to finacially support people by programs and useless organizations, People can help themselves actually. If they can't get a job, they should of stayed in school instead of doing marijuana, lol, but seriously, and speaking of jobs, the US has a lower unemployment rate than most of Europe and the jobs are not burger flipping jobs, as you may hear on your liberal media. I also make my opinion by how many illegal aliens cross the border each day, which is actually 8-10k each day. I see the AunCLU stuffing the gay agenda along with many other things down americas throats when most of us don't want it. Eleven states in just the past elections voted no to gay marriges, but the ACLU just shipped it to a judge, and void thousands of votes in a state. As for the US making enemies in the rest of the world, i couldn't care less. The UN is corrupt in the first place. It was a good attempt for peace, but its been so corrupted that it is now useless. For all you british, if we fought the PC war, that is what you and the libs want, in Iraq in the second world war, you'd be speaking german right now. Our soldiers have their hands tied behind their backs over there because of it. I'm rushing because of the swim meet, so my thoughts might not be complete and this is not all what i wish to say, but i have to say something at least.
-
Theodor Was independent because he didn't like either party in his term i think he made that VERY clear. Nader was part of the green party, and most likly still holds those truths to Value. I Could say the same thing. I listen to Democrats and Replicans all the time on radio and TV. Both parties Ask for debates from the other party to show them who's boss, neither party responds
-
yeah
-
I'm going to get you all to think, less persuading, less thinking.
-
Steve claims american economy is screwed
-
I've Heared Other wise
-
John believes liberals are crazy for "factual reasons"
-
steve think's Conservatives are crazy for "factual reasons"
What does this tell you?
-
Somone is lieing, and it's neither steve, john or myself. whoever Is the source of our imformation. THis is why i never try to stray too far to one side, always try to empathize.
-
havn't watched "moderatly democratic" media in a while so I'm speaking for myself. I choose not to because there usually take a pesimistic veiw at the world.
By the way... i'm wondering wouldn't it be posible to make a car that you just put water into, start the engine, use a batery to generate some electricity and shock the water into oxygen and hydrogen. then as the car is moving, generate power from the motion of the car to recharge the batery????
-
-
Thank you hee, that does make some sense to our mess.As for you car engine idea, i'm not sure. But you'd have to reconfigure the internal combustion engine completely
-
Just remember no matter how strange a story sounds, they'res always a middle ground. the REAL story. - well the only problem with hydrogen cars is that they're really nothing more then a bomb on wheels lol
-
I've made my judgements of my political opinion by what i see in the world. What i'm disgusted by in the mainstream media, or what i find out by talk radio.Young dude, where else have you gotten information? Have you traveled to other parts of the world and seen what's going on? Are you reading lots of journals, domestic and foreign, that go beyond Time and Newsweek?> I could side with a libertarian in some things, but when it comes down to economy, the government shouldn't have to financially support people by programs and useless organizations,What organizations do you think are useless and useful? Will Rush help you decide?> People can help themselves actually.Always, in every case?> If they can't get a job, they should of stayed in school instead of doing marijuana, lol, but seriously, and speaking of jobs, the US has a lower unemployment rate than most of Europe and the jobs are not burger flipping jobs, as you may hear on your liberal media. I also make my opinion by how many illegal aliens cross the border each day, which is actually 8-10k each day.The illegal aliens are not coming here from other developed economies. They are coming from the poor nations of Latin America and the Caribbean. Here's an article from Foreign Affiars magazine that explains, in part, how our high-tech economy is in decline versus many other industrialized nations. It's all pretty complex, and can't be reduced to slogans and Limbaugh throw-away lines.> I see the AunCLU stuffing the gay agenda along with many other things down americas throats when most of us don't want it. Eleven states in just the past elections voted no to gay marriges, but the ACLU just shipped it to a judge, and void thousands of votes in a state. What sarcastic thing do you mean by "AunCLU"? Are "conservatives" inherently more mean-spirited than others? You understand that the Constitution was framed in a way to protect minorities from the tyranny of the majority. It doesn't always work (e.g., Jim Crow laws), but it usually does. It appears, if you read the newspaper or watch TV, that a lot of conservative activists are motivated by their religious beliefs to stand in the way of gay rights any way possible, because they consider the behavior sinful. They agree with the ayatollahs. The word "marriage" is a religious thing, and I don't know why the government is involved in it, rather than civil unions. In some countries, a man and a woman have a civil ceremony sanctioned by the state, and if they want to also get married in a church, it's up to them. What is the reason that homosexual couples shouldn't be able to have the legal rights of marriage? Do you understand what those legal rights are? Plus the government will come out ahead financially if more couples file joint tax returns.> As for the US making enemies in the rest of the world, i couldn't care less. The UN is corrupt in the first place. It was a good attempt for peace, but its been so corrupted that it is now useless. You must realize that the UN isn't the only entity in the world besides the US. It's not in our best interest economically or diplomatically to have the world pissed at us. Since you probably don't read foreign journals or travel overseas, you have no idea how the U.S. government is perceived, or why people feel the way they do.> For all you british, if we fought the PC war, that is what you and the libs want, in Iraq in the second world war, you'd be speaking german right now.The idea is that, if we do what the Nazis did, how are we better than them? How was WW II less "PC" than the Iraq war? They actually did follow the Geneva Convention in WW II, something that Bush, Rumsfeld, and Gonzales said they wouldn't be bound by in the Iraq war.> Our soldiers have their hands tied behind their backs over there because of it.There are over 100,000 Iraqi civilians dead. How tied are their hands? Are their interrogation techniques too limited? What more should they do, drop an H-bomb on Baghdad? How are their hands tied? Put up or shut up on this one.> I'm rushing because of the swim meet, so my thoughts might not be complete and this is not all what i wish to say, but i have to say something at least. There's no need to "say something at least". You need to learn a lot more about domestic and world politics; what I see are talk radio slogans. I don't recall seeing any of my points addressed by you...just more slogans.
-
> Steve claims american economy is screwed
Not what I said. I think the economy is at great risk in the long term because of
high government spending and low taxation, which results in- deficit
- increases national debt
At some point, a large amount of tax revenues will go to pay interest on the debt, if nothing changes. There's also an issue with the
- trade deficit
and the fact that we seem to be
- losing our competetiveness in some areas of technology
and with limitations on funding for stem cell research,
- we are on our way to losing competetiveness in some areas of medical research.
The trade deficit, especially with China, is a big deal. They're now starting to buy American companies (IBM's PC division, and now trying to buy Maytag and Unocal Oil). They have a lot of dollars because of the trade imbalance. They own a lot of U.S. bonds. That gives them increasing power over our economy, and thus, increasing political power.
It can be argued that it benefits our economy if we can buy things from the cheapest producers, no matter where they are. I agree with this, and think that free trade should not be hindered. But the bread and butter of U.S. manufacturing exports has always been high-value products, like industrial equipment and sophisticated high-tech devices. The question is, why are our exports now so much less than our imports, and why is the trend continuing downward?
> I've Heared Other wise
Well lat-ti-da. Everyone's heard all kinds of things. Care to elaborate, or is that good enough?
> By the way... i'm wondering wouldn't it be posible to make a car that you just put water into, start the engine, use a batery to generate some electricity and shock the water into oxygen and hydrogen. then as the car is moving, generate power from the motion of the car to recharge the batery????
You want a perpetual motion machine. When you study physics, you'll understand why this can't work.
[On the Ralph Nader thing: Ralph Nader is to the the Green Party as Theodore Roosevelt is to the of the Bull Moose party.]

What worries me about the US Right is the philosophy that if people are poor or doing badly it's their own fault and other people's money shouldn't be spent helping them. It is not realistic to expect that if everyone takes the situation they were born in and runs with it they will all do well. Would the present president be in his present place if he had been born to a poor family?
There's a family group of early humanoid skeletons that was found. One of the members was crippled and couldn't have hunted, but had evidently been fed by the group. That's what I see as human and humane, the stronger supporting the weaker, not the law of the jungle.
