I would like to know why so many people are excited by the idea of getting an enema! After all its pretty groos! Who the fuck wnatsd to get their asses cleaned up. The onl yenemas I've seen as a med student are those that are done on patients with colon cancer of those that are way too constipated. and its nothing pleasing to see

Why bother with an enema?
-
It's far more likely that you're a prison inmate than a medical student.
-
I agree SteveA!! Although personally I wouldn't have an enema as a leisure activity I have seen plenty done on people in the hospital and not just on people who have colon cancer. You may think its gross so maybe if you are who you say you are then you are in the wrong sort of training!! Ok I agree it is not always pleasant to watch or do on a patient but it is sometimes necessary and can ease a persons suffering and thats why I do the job I do to help people not take the piss out them.

People with colon cancer get enemas?
-
No idea hun I have not dealt with anyone with colon cancer as yet. I have given enemas to many people following a stroke but I guess an enema can be needed for many different reasons.
-
I actually own an enema kit. I have had irregular movements my entire life. I may go twice in a day, and then nothing for three days. My family also has quite the history of colon cancer. I decided last year that the inconvenience of an occasional enema was much better than that of a colostomy bag.I also enjoy working anal stimulation into some of my masturbation sessions, and it's always better when clean down there.

I'm not sure what a family history of colon cancer has to do with you giving yourself enemas. If you don't have a tumor, then your constipation has nothing to do with cancer. If you do have a tumor, then obviously it won't be cured by enemas. Do you have some sort of constriction (or stricture) in the rectal area? There are other methods to address constipation (more fiber in your diet, fiber supplements, exercise mild laxatives). Is your doctor OK with your chronic enema use?

As long as he's following the directions on the box I fail to see why his doctor would care about his "chronic" enema. Your use of chronic implies that you think there is some danger in having several enemas, to the best of my knowledge there is no such danger.

For most people, you don't want to chronically take enemas (or laxatives) for the same reason you don't want to chronically take sleeping pill: after a while you can't function without them. And the diarrhea they cause leads to loss of minerals (electrolytes).Plus, for most people, chronic constipation is a symptom of a bad diet, lack of exercise, or an intestinal disease (or a tumor).

As far as my research is showing, there is no risk of dependence on any sort of enema. Now there are risks to having an enema, including electrolyte disturbances, dehydration, renal failure, and even death, but as long as your following the directions it should be pretty safe. There is also a huge diffrence between someone who's having an enema twice a day every day to someone who's having it done once a week, or once every two weeks, or even once every month. The formor, not gonna be good for you, the later, as long as your eating well and keep good with fluids, shouldn't cause any problem in an otherwise healthy person. Now I do agree that if someone is having chronic constipation they should go see a professional. The enemas may be doing nothing for the actual problem. It maybe, in fact, masking symptoms which can disrupt the ability to get an accurate diagnoses.~Al LNA
