My eldest sister is a filmmaker (I'm so proud) and for the last few weeks she's been helping film these movies, like today she went to go help with a shortie (what they call short films in her area). So anyway, being that shes so close I asked her to try and get me in there to do a little acting. And she did. I went this past week and the guys there seem nice but they are really crazy. They're like mean rottweilers (spelling?). But anyway I got a spot in this type of movie they're doing. It's not a big part but at least it's in there and I was really siked. I had been practicing my lines until I realized what the scene was about. The person I'm playing is supposed to be a stripper and she's supposed to seduce these men or whatever. However, I'm not comfortable with what I'm supposed to do in the scenes she's in. I told my sis and she said "thats show biz". Show biz my foot. When we were rehearsing Thursday the guy with that little clip thinging that goes "scene 18 blah blah action" told me to take off my clothes, I got nervous and faked that I was sick. Babyish I know but it doesn't make me feel comfortable. I know it sounds stupid to even think of denying something giving so much money but I don't wanna show myself like that. I don't wanna be a slut. I'm thinking of telling the people that I don't want to do it but I don't know what I'll be giving up. Any opinions on what to do?

Cameras! Lights! Strip?
-
In reply to: know it sounds stupid to even think of denying something giving so much money Why? If you're not comfortable, no amount of money can you make you comfortable doing it. Hypothetically: would you kill someone for a large sum of money?
-
Like krystal said, just don't do it. As for what you might be missing if you say no, hell you might miss being demeaned by idiots and hey maybe going down the porn route............sigh seriously if your not comfortable doing it, and i can safely say i woudn't be either, then tell them to shove it!
-
Why bother with what other people might think ? If you wouldn
t think about others ( btw who are the others ? do you live there ? is your mom watching ? ) you wouldn
t feel uncomfortable and would even have fun -
Ok, I went to church today and it seemed like the pastor knew exactly what was on my mind. Talking about all that good stuff. Weird. But he got me thinking. I think I may even get saved. Jesus sounds like a cool guy. Anyway, the guy called me today, said he needed to go over something. I told him I was uncomfortable with it and that he should pick someone else plus I apologized. He seemed upset but took it well, at least I thought. He said it's gonna be hard finding someone else but whatever. But at least it's off my chest.

You're 15 years old...it's illegal for you to be taking your clothes off for some movie. I'm find this whole story a little hard to believe.
-
what kind of family (particularly your sister) would even allow you to audition for a part in a movie where your main scene involves your nudity? 1. Your sister and the guys she introduced you to, have sense of the law are sick and twisted; 2. this story is indeed a fabrication.
-
Yeah true. That's just it though. Since when do they care about your age. Little kids are now cursing on tv and sex is being show on tv all the time. My sister doesn't really care that much, and she's working on a total different movie. But I did say no (pat myself on the back). Why is that so hard to believe though? Why can't I ask for advice without getting a "that's hard to believe". It was hard for me to believe when I found out that the world trade center fell down (sad memories :frowning:) but anyway if you don't look fifteen and instead look 18 then you'll most likely get a part where your 18. Happens most of the time. But thanks for the advice I know who to come now when I get myself into sticky situations.

> Since when do they care about your age.
If it involves nudity, the law cares. I believe they'd be commiting a felony if you'd actually taken your clothes off. Little kids cursing and sex being shown on TV have nothing to do with it.
Your sister is involved with, basically, a bunch of criminals. If she doesn't realize it, she's naive. If she actually got you into this thing and said, "That's showbusiness", she needs to have her ass kicked; she doesn't seem to care a whole lot about you.
Was that story for real?
-
Yeah the story was for real, in manhatten, downtown, with a bunch of people, in the hot sun. People are only human. I've been through quite a lot don't need stuff like that thank you very much.
-
Your sister brought you to a place to be abused, and then said it was cool. You don't think there's an issue there?
-
Wait, was this full nudity or just a serious lack of clothing?
And what you said reminds me of Family Guy.
It seems today,
That all ya see,
Is violence in movies,
And sex on TV.
Where are those good old fashioned values,
In which we used to rely!!!! -
Under U.S. law, it doesn't necessarily matter.
-
It was a serious lack of clothing. Not nude all the way. Like leaving on the undergarments or lingery you know.
-
well, 15, underwear. There is a law against that? Have you ever seen the movie "My Father The Hero"? Katherine Heigl, 15 at the time, walked around in a thong bikini. Wear was the legal action there? Same thing in the French version, again nothing. Although, ya know, it was French!
-
It depends upon whether the resulting image could be considered sexually provocative. Nudity is not required. I don't know where My Father the Hero was filmed, and I don't think just wearing a bikini crosses the line, but film makers have gotten afraid to show underage actors in "sexual" situations. They use actors who are 18+ but look younger. You can probably get away with more if the film is more "artistic" then "pornographic", but you might wind up hasing it out in court. This is, after all, the United States. You studying up on American law now?
-
I see. Well, good thing I said no or else there would have been alot for me to deal with.
-
Not so much for you as for they guys making the film. But if no one who saw it was offended, probably nothing would have come of it.The bottom line is, if you're asked to do something that makes you uncomfortable, just don't do it. Don't worry if their feelings are hurt. They'll get over it.You did the right thing.
-
Thanks steve. I feel so special right now. kisses and hugs. But I have a question for you. Would you have done it?
-
In reply to:
But if no one who saw it was offended, probably nothing would have come of it.
slim chance of no one getting offended. I'm reminded of what occurred from the bath tub scene with nicole kidman and that boy in the movie "Birth".
