Wow, long time since I started a serious thread.Well, I have some scars on my wrist, no I didn't cut, it was an accident. But everyone who sees them thinks that I do, and the constant looks that I get are getting really annoying. My boss saw them today and was asking me if everything was alright and all that shit. Not to mention my "friends" have suddenly started caring about "how I feel". They seem to think that it was a cry for attention or something.Well, I was just wondering what kind of stuff I can use to cover them up. I can't wear a watch (believe it or not, thats what actually caused the scars!) but I think I might get some of those charity wristbands. Any other ideas?

Hiding Scars
-
the story I've used is... working on the engine and the electric fan started. That explains the numerous parallel scares on my inner forearms.the general public doesn't need to know the truth!
-
Well, my story is that I rolled onto my arm while in bed, the latch on my metal watch dug into me and cut into my arm to the point that its actually quite deep. Not to mention that now everytime I stretch my wrist or something like that (ya know, I use my wrists a lot) the cut reopens and starts bleding all over the place. Very annoying cause its gonna make the healing last longer and possibley leave a permanent scar.
-
i would try a concealer or something. makeup usually works.

In reply to:Not to mention that now everytime I stretch my wrist or something like that (ya know, I use my wrists a lot) the cut reopens and starts bleding all over the place. So it's a fresh cut? It sounds like you needed stitches, or something to hold the skin together. A plastic surgeon might have a more permanent solution.
-
Makeup won't work at the moment, there is a big scab cause it keeps reopening. So I need something to just to go over it or something.
Yeah, its kinda fresh. A little over a week old.
-
well...then if its still fresh...go with gauze and a wristband.
-
A plastic surgeon won't give you makeup. He might be able to fix your problem surgically. I have no idea what it would cost...maybe less than you think.
-
neosporin, bandaid, and a wristband or watch.
-
In reply to: go with gauze and a wristband. Well, I'm really trying to get something that will bring LESS attention to my wrists. A gauze kind of cries out for attention! In reply to: A plastic surgeon won't give you makeup. Sorry, I was replying to gothic, but I was just too damn lazy to quote. In reply to: He might be able to fix your problem surgically. I have no idea what it would cost...maybe less than you think. I had a plastic surgeon give me stitches once, I ripped my lip open when I was 3 and the doctor was too afraid to stitch me up cause I was so small. And it didn't cost a lot, so I know what the pricing would be. But I'm not worried about a permanent scar (I should have picked a better topic name), its the big dirty scab on my wrist that is getting all the attention.
-
Yea I know what youre saying, you just want to cover up the scar. Well, when all else fails, use long sleeves lol
-
If it keeps re-opening it needs better treatment - stitches or glue or at least better bandaging.
-
next time it re-opens, put some butterfly stitches on it. You should only get real stitches if it won't stop bleeding. Leave the butterfly stitches on until it is fully healed. and don't forget neosporin to help relieve the scaring and to keep it disinfected. As for hiding it: long but light, sleeves, wristbands, and if it's in your "style", bracelets.

I never put any bandaging on, cause it kinda brings attention to it, but more importantly I never use any kind of bandages or anything when I get cuts, no matter how big or deep. They always stop themselves and seem to heal faster in the air. I'm probably wrong, but thats how I see it.I can't get any neosporin over here (I asked my sister who is a chemist, so she knows) so I think that I'll stop off in a shop and buy some charity bracelets before I go to college. I just started today and I noticed a few people staring, so...

Buy some makeup that makes it more apparent, claim you did it up as a prank and now you can't get rid of the stuff until you send off for a debonding agent. If they ask who you were pranking, it was a significant other. If a significant other asks, you can just tell them. One person in on the lie won't dispose of it. Tis what I'd do.

You peel the adhesive off the back, stick it on one side, and pull it across the wound to close it up and stick it down on the other side. It's effective and discrete, and if anyone asks, just tell the truth.Sucks that you can't get neosporin, but in all reality any disinfectant should work, and it would help quite a bit. Also, I've heard that vitamin E oil is good for it, once it heals up.

don't try to cover the scar if it's not from cutting... ppl will suspect more... just tell them what happened.... but if u still want to cover it, use a wrist band or put on some skin-tone powder (make-up)
