Hey im new here i was just wondering i weight 203 pounds.I just got into running 4 days ago but everytime i run for 20 min or so i lose 4-5 pounds is that good?
-
Something wrong with me?
-
No. Gaining or losing so much weight so fast is something you should be concerned about. Consult with your doctor, and take it easy.
-
It probably means you're getting dehydrated. Be sure to drink enough (stuff with electrolytes, like Gatorade, is probably good). But don't overdo it with the drinking either.
-
i eat alot and drink lots of water
-
You drink a lot while you are running? If not, it sounds like you are losing a lot of water while you are running. I don't know what other reasonable explanation there could be, unless you're shedding clothing or weights while you're running.
-
shedding?
-
Yes, shedding. It's both a mental and physical disorder which leads to voluntary muscular action, usually in your extremities. Your mind's conscious function facilitates these extremities in unstrapping/releasing accumulated articles of cloth, usually in clothing form. An alternate strain induces the shedding of weights which were adversely affecting the neuromuscular condition of your body by applying additional gravitic downward pressure.
-
shedding?Not unless you're a very hairy dog.
-
i dont get what shedding means but i just ran for 1 hour and lost 3 pounds and i feal great like i can run more forever....
-
I'll bet you didn't drink anything between the time you started running and the time you weighed yourself.
-
Was someone on your shoulders when you weighed yourself the first time? Because that might be why.
-
lol i dont think anyone was on my shoulders lol
-
Well, the point is that ordinarily people cannot lose three pounds with an hour of running. Those people who do are usually losing "water weight"... basically, you have mostly just sweated out a lot of water from your body, and so you temporarily weigh less. When you rehydrate yourself, you will drink enough water to make most (if not all) of that weight return. If this is not the case, if you have been drinking water as you run and keeping yourself hydrated, then make sure you are weighing yourself in the nude after going to the bathroom both before and after you run.If THAT is not the case, then check for large amounts of blood in your stool or similar sources of body mass loss. And call 911.
-
you ran for an hour straight at over 200 lbs? im a pretty big guy and i find that hard to believe.
-
Well, depends on his height. I'm 6'4" and around 200 lbs, making me pretty lean. If he is similarly tall, over 6'2" or so, then 200 lbs. doesn't necessarily make him fat.
-
Is there a language barrier here? The idea is that if you are running for an hour, especially if it is hot, you are losing a lot of water while you are running. Water weighs a lot. Does that make sense?
-
I predict the next reply will be along the lines of:"But I turn the hose off before I leave. Do you mean the bottled water in the fridge? I don't hold that while I am weighing myself, I leave it in the fridge."
-
No not really but that must mean your bmi it temendously high because the bigger you are the quiker you lose weight.
-
I doubt that has much to do with this. It sounds like it's all water weight. It could also possibly be the clothing he's wearing. If he wore something that was baggy and heavy beforehand, and his running clothes afterwards, that could add to the difference.
