I've always wondered..What causes an orgasm to feel so good? What exactly are you feeling in a orgasm? The semen coming out? Pleasures centers in the brain or something? How does the orgasm work...

How does an orgasm work scientifically?

I watched this last night on the Discovery Channel. When you have sex it is all about the Limbic System, and when a guy gets hard i think it was NItric Oxide that gets released an causes the muscles around the venis in your penis to relax and blood rushes in. The for a guy when he orgasms there is a ssensory overload of sorts and causes his pelvic muscles to contract and that is when a guy cums. AS for a woman I forgot, but it was a bit more complicated.

Results of functional MRI studies on orgasming people came out recently (I'm not making this up...they orgasmed while their brains were being scanned). For women, much of the brain shut down during orgasm, including the centers that control emotion. That wasn't true for men; most of their brains kept working. The study also involved sexual stimulation that didn't lead to orgasm, and no stimulation, as controls.

steveA was that the same study that showed the part of the womans brain that i guess made her feel safe as the only part of the brain that lit up during (and i think after) and orgasm? i think i saw it on yahoo or something a few weeks ago. I think they said it also made her more trusting to that particular person shes with also or something. oh wait i found it, during a real orgasm for a female the part of the brain that governs fear and anxiety are shut off. Could that be the reason why girls prefer to cuddle with their partners right after sex as opposed to guys just getting up, taking a piss, then going on with their daily routines? (if he's done having sex that is)

Could that be the reason why girls prefer...Oxytocin has that effect, and an orgasm will raise one's oxytocin level (at least for a female).
