I was wondering if anyone on here does or has done triathlon(s). I'm planning on doing a triathlon on Aug. 13 for a 16-19 age group, and I've never done a triathlon before. It's much shorter than a full length triathlon, 500m swim (as opposed to 1500m), 20k bike (44k), 5k run (10k).
I'm looking for any training tips since I'm trying to get a good idea of a training schedule for month that I have left. I've just got back into swimming, and I've started riding my bike once again (hadn't for a couple years). As far as running goes, I just need to keep myself in shape for that by doing a long run every week and one or two 5k runs, as well as possibly some hill training if I can get it in.
If anyone has prepared for a triathlon and can give me a basic training schedule or what sort of exercises I should be doing at this point (amounts of running, swimming, biking, weight training, etc.) it would be very helpful. Any other tips aside from physical training would also be appreciated.
I've got a fencing camp on the 22-26 this month, and I won't be able to do any additional exercise that week because it's a very challenging training camp. For most of the time leading up to the Aug. 13 tri, I'll be away at my grandparent's cabin. I can swim any time there since there's a lake at the edge of their front yard, and I'll be able to run and bike there, but no hill training or access to weights (at home I have dumbells that can be adjusted between 5-55 lbs each).
