Alright well i have a question concerning my and my dad, me and him have alot in common. He played all sports i do and excelled at them like i do and even played linebacker like i do. And i noticed when it comes to my mom he is very protective and stuff, and so am i when it comes to a girl i truly love(my current gf) and i am very over protective also, and me and my dad both have a short temper, my question is could i have like gotten this from my dad through his genes or soemthing, or just because ive been around it all my life and shit(my dads not a physco or ne thing he just loves my mom and yah)

Me and my Dad

You're asking about "nature versus nurture" regarding personality. There is evidence that personality characteristics are to some extent inherited, but no on can definitively answer your question. All I can say is, in some ways, I've become my father.
-
Yah ive heard people say that they become there dad so idk
-
I wouldnt say that i have BECOME my mother.. but I notice i have many similar qualities.. but i love it because my mother is an amazing woman
-
I have a lot of similarities with my father in personality, though not of course in every respect.
-
I'm a good mixture between my mom and dad. But I think it does have to do with your blood and how you were raised.
-
Psychologists generally hold that how one handles anger and other emotions is a learned pattern, and yeah, it is usually from the parents. It happens very early in life, and so it is dificult, but not impossible to overcome. edit: that would be Developemental psychologists
-
Yah, what im going to try to do is just hold it all in and not show it untill game day comes on the football field, and just release it all out lol hopefully that will work
-
I used to do something like that when I worked out. I gave the bags HELL! Nothing like replaying angering situations to give that extra oomph to a bench press! And yeah, I had no sense of humor and a vicious temper.
-
Haha yes i also do that when working out, mainly if im tired and need another set, i just thing of something that really sets me off and BAM i can get the next set when if i was calm i couldnt get it.
-
'sactly! positive use of anger! And some good crankin tunes help, too!! Of course, when you yell, people think you are a nut!! the hell with 'em! No pain...
-
shit i never had to do that to get another set...I just put me being tired aside...I just said to myself, I am tired, tough shit gotta finish the workout. I found the best way to slowly and healthily release your anger was to talk to people about it.
-
Lol on the football field is when i yell the most lol i freak out on there
-
I also talk to ppl about my anger, but to me nothings better then taking it out on the field or the gym
-
You have a point. I have, on the odd occassion, tried to talk it out. for example, when someone cuts me off on the freeway, I have followed them and gestured (from the shoulder of the road) with my middle finger or upraised fist that they should pull over so that we can calmly and rationally discuss their breach of drive etiquette, I have been rebuffed, so I don't do that anymore. In such cases, it is best to allow them to leave my area, but I am stuck with my anger, that, admittedly, I allow myself to feel. Knowing that I plan to go to the gym that day, knowing that I push myself as I used to box a little ( and have been VERY competitive) and such, I let the anger out in a way that will benifit myself. That is the part I like the most. I get to turn the negative, selfish, foolishness of a miscreant driver into a positive benefit for me, and I laugh all the way to better health
-
That can be tempting, but around here challenging another driver can be pretty dangerous, and I'd assume that if anyone gestured me to the side of the road, they were planning to hijack my car. People drive around with handguns in Florida. Better to just take a deep breath and let it go. You can come here and yell at newbies instead.
-
Lmao yah my dad has done that a couple times, and if it wasnt for my dad wanting to kick my ass if i punched a hole in the wall, there would already be a couple lol, and i wish i had a damn punching bag but i dont. Just a workout set which is alright but i love hitting a bag when im mad.
-
That is a kind offer, but if I am going to express anger, it will be directed at the person that committed the act. I don't give in to road rage anymore anyhow. I have realized that to give in to anger is to admit a certain powerlessness (besides, I can always kick my dog)
-
Thats not very nice dude lol to kick your dog, it didnt do anything to you, try punching the wall or pillow lol
-
besides your dad going to kick your ass for maybe punching holes in drywall, every 16 inches or so, there is a 2 by 4 softwood stud that has WAY less give than sheetrock! Can we say, busted hand? lol!
I belong to a gym, and the whole upstairs is for a martial arts class, and so they have fifteen or so Wave bags. I go up there for my warm up, and set three or four bags out around me, and kick, punch, knee and elbow my way to a Zen-like state. After a half hour, I am warmed up, and then go to the main floor. Love those endorphines!!
