Hate to break into this thus far celtic/Germanic/Pictish/Norman thingy, but I was not aware that there was a sequel to the Da Vinci code. I will look for it.I understand that the Harry Potter books have become increasingly "dark". When my son brought home the first two, I read them, and was not alarmed, despite what the fundementalists said (and it those books can get my boy to read...cool). But I have heard from news reports that some children who have seen the movies have suffered from nightmares, and a few even became very distraught and had to be removed from the theaters.I have seen many scary movies, and thrillers, suspense movies, read many scary books. I only had nightmares after reading the straightforeward "Nials Saga", and Icelandinc tale that had footnotes, and was not sensationalized, but was considered to be historical. Go figure.
-
we have all the harry potter DVD's and the last one, (3rd book) was definitely darker...........and the books have gone gradually the same way...........then again, Lord Voldemort IS trying to kill Harry, so how 'nice' can the story be really?I don't think i have ever seen or read anything that has truly scared me...........

In reply to:Mr postie brought our copy of it at 11ish, and i am yet to get my grubby hands on it, cos my 11 year old has run off with it I knew that I'd have the same problem with my sister, so last night (about 2 minutes after midnight) I bought two. The adult and child virsion. Only started reading it about an hour ago, bastard work!
-
now thats something i always wondered about hon, how different IS the adult and child versions of the books?
-
Well, the covers are different. And there is about an extra page or two with more detailed descriptions of Hermione.
-
well i knew the covers where different DUH LOL but thanks for filling me in hugs
-
There is no difference, except the adult one looks more "sophisticated".
-
I can't stand harry potter
-
Why? Have you actually ever tried reading one of the books?
-
I just bought John Irving's new novel, Until I Find You.Can't wait to sink my teeth into it.
-
My bookstore sold out. sob now I have to wait for God knows how long.
