I am 14 years old never had any kind of sex but I often go to the bathroom to pee. And sometimes, I still feel that I need to pee, just 5 minutes after. what could be the cause of this and should i worry about it?

Always an urge to pee (please help asap)

Have you ever been tested for diabetes? One symptom is frequent urination. Best thing to do is just have your parents make you an appointment to see the doctor. Tell him what you have been experiencing and he'll give you the right diagnoses and/or do some tests.Hope that helps some.

sounds like some kind of over-reactive bladder symptom. maybe u just drink too much soda. get it checked out by ur Doc and ask about Dextrol La

I often go to the bathroom to pee.How often? Do you put out much urine each time?> And sometimes, I still feel that I need to pee, just 5 minutes after.Do you just feel like you have to go, or do you actually go? How much?

Well what would be the cause of me having diabetes?
-
A lot of times it hereditary. And by no means by me saying it's "possible" am I saying you have it.. I should have stated that, it's just something to look into. There are other options to increased urination. Just make that apppointment with you doctor and he'llhelp figure it out.

Well to be honest, it's a possibility. I do eat a lot of sugar and am aware of it and, isn't that a possible cause of diabetes? The reason i am asking here and researching on the net is because I am embarassed off talking about things like this to people.
-
I do eat a lot of sugar and am aware of it and, isn't that a possible cause of diabetes? Not at all likely. But it can certainly screw you up if you already have diabetes.Peeing a lot is a symptom of high blood sugar (glocose) levels. It can also be a symptom of kidney disease. It can also be a symptom of drinking a lot of water. You didn't say how much you actually do pee, though. And for that matter, how much you drink.
-
So it isn't necessarily something dangerous or important?
-
Yes eatting a lot of sugar can also be a cause.I understand about being embarrassed, completely natural. But remember, doctors hear a lot fo embarrassing things and they will not judge you or think different of you for asking them. If nothing else it makes you look intellegent for knowing something is wrong and you seeked medical attention. I work in a doctors office and I think it's awesome when a teenager comes in and actually cares about their body, gives me hope for the future generation.
-
So it isn't necessarily something dangerous or important?Could be! But, as I have said on other threads, it's always better to be safe than sorry and just get it checked out to be certain.

how much do u drink and how much do u pee

Well i usually drink at lunch/supper. during the afternoon and between supper & going to bed. When I have school, I pee like twice a day but at home, I can pee quite often because i mean, theres nothing stopping me from going so might as well just go.And its not an URGE to pee...its just i feel as though i could pee if i want.

> So it isn't necessarily something dangerous or important?
Who knows? You provided a very small amount of information to a bunch of non-medical people. It could be something unimportant, or it could be something very important. But a blood sugar test is very quick and easy, or can be part of a regular blood test. If you are really peeing a lot, you should certainly get it checked out.
If you're diabetic, your kidneys generate a lot of urine to flush out the excess sugar in your blood. That dehydrates you and makes you very thirsty.
NtroducingMyself> Yes eatting a lot of sugar can also be a cause.
For a 14-year-old? It's possible that, in large amounts and over a long term, sugar consumption might lead to insulin resistance (type 2 diabetes). There is no definitive research that I'm aware of.
I suppose the calories in the sugar can make him overweight, which will make him a higher risk for type 2 diabetes. But eating a lot of steaks will do the same thing.

You can never rule out childhood diabetes unless a test is done. True given his age is very unlikely.. but the first thing I thought when he said he urinates frequently was diabetes. Regaurdless I think we agree if he wants true help he needs to seek the help of a medical professional.

That's what the urge to pee is. I assume you mean that you don't actually put out much. If that's the case, you might have a urinary tract infection. That's also something to see the doctor about. They might have you pee into a sterile cup and culture the urine. If there bacteria, they'll give you a short course of antibiotics. It's easy.

I thought you were talking about sugar consumption leading to diabetes. Clearly, eating sugar can screw you up (and make you pee a lot) if you already have diabetes.
-
Sorry I didn't make myself clear

Yet another possibility is a urinary tract infection - they don't always cause pain.
We can't tell, so you should see a doctor.
