What Amercans don't believe is that their health care isn't "free", even if their employer pays most of their insurance premiums. America has one of the lest efficient health care systems in the world, and we all wind up paying the bill.Toyota is opening their new RAV4 plant in Ontario for two main reasons: there are more skilled and educated workers there, and they don't have to deal with the health insurance morass that they would in the U.S. The fact that other industrialized countries have government health care systems and the U.S. doesn't makes the U.S. progressively less competetive in attracting industry.(As far as education is concerned, while Kentuckians are learning Creationism, foreigners are learning science, math, reading, and writing. The South Koreans totally kick America's but in publice education, as do probably two dozen other countries.)

I think its one of the countries best things..........when mum had breast cancer she had to latest, somewhat, experimental chemotherapy, at a cost of £4000 each time she had it, i think that she came through it so well, and that she is still here, because she had that treatment, i would hate to think what would have happened had she not has access to the care she did.Tho saying that, there is a huge discrepancy in treatment, depending on where about in the country you live..........your health is determined by your postcode (zipcode) it seems.
-
ahh ok i guess that makes sense. I guess thats the con of having stuff really cheap here compared to other western countries.
-
What are you saying I'm dumb? huh huh punk! lol No I'm just kidding. You are definately right about that. But I go to a private school so... buddy! It's huge for a private school. But their major in my school is science and math there's like 3 classes each of science and math it's ridiculous. Summer please stay.

you are right about the education matter. most of the people I met in college didnt even have a highschool reading and math level. I think our education here is gonna lead to the end of this country. High schools and colleges here are pumping out fewer and fewer highly educated people than they were 20 years ago.

I'm not talking about fabulously educated high school grads. I'm talking about 18-year-olds who are functionally literate, and can add a column of numbers. Companies are having to tutor new hires in basic skills. It's a good thing that nowadays cash registers do most of the thinking. Fewer and fewer cashiers can count change. At Wendy's, they don't even have to pick out the coins...it's all automated. It's funny when, for instance, something costs $2.38, and you give the cashier $3.13, so you don't get more useless coins back (only quarters are useful...they let us do our laundry). First they give you a confused look, then they push the change back at you, then you tell them, "Trust me, just ring it in.", then they're astonished when the cash register tells them to give back 75 cents (i.e., 3/5 of a wash).

I go to a private schoolYou must come from an affluent family. You are very lucky. Some day you will look back and think about the value of your good education.
-
A lot of people are leaving high school (graduation or dropping out) who can barely read at all, much less worry about the difference beteen "its" and "it's". It's a national scandal. What kind of work are they qualified to do?
-
Well the english language is one of the hardest languages to learn. However if he was born in America he has no excuse.
-
I think 85% of this board cannot speak or spell in proper English.
-
lol, true.
-
exactly! our education system is so fucked...
-
Just who was the dummy to make up the word "fuck" I mean seriously. It's not even in the dictionary. Neither is "shit". Why do we use it?
-
fuck is in the dictionary. You can use the term in various ways and stuff. Its a very old word thats been around long before any of us were around.
-
The American people have just become lazy with the English language, especially in written form. For example, "league" and "neighbour" are the correct spellings. What is really the point of dropping one or two letters? Is it just so that on computer applications you can have English(US)?
-
In reply to:Its a very old word A perfect example of English grammar gone wrong
-
It is? Wow that's sad.
-
yea i also dont capitalize my words. typing on the internet isnt as formal as typing up a report for your boss, you tend not to give a fuck.
have you noticed all the errors Ive just made??
-
Fuck is in the American Heritage dictionary. So is shit. The usage examples for the latter are pretty funny. But those words are considered vulgar in current usage, so if you use them, realize that you're going to offend some people. Not everyone here is your contemporary or your buddy.
-
Capitalization was not what I was pointing out.
