That's all well and good, SteveA, but none of those links and quotes says that a guy in his 30's is an "older man," which is what you implied in your post.In fact, none of them define what an "old man" is exactly (how old). In addition, most of those quotes are generalizations from non-scientific sites based on broad assumptions. I'm 31, and I haven't had any change in my refractory period - if anything, I'm MORE multiorgasmic now than I was when I was 16. I'm not saying every guy is like me, but you also can't say every guy has a longer refractory period in his 30's versus his teens either, because its not always the case.

Why can i only cum once?

In reply to: I had never heard of a guy being able to come more than once within a short interval. It has always taken me at least 45 to 60 minutes before I could go again and actually very few times in my 48 years I have ever tried. Definitly never more then 2 times in a 2 or 3 hour interval. Are some of you saying that you can do more in a short period of time? Well, you've heard of at least one now: me. Again, I'm 31, and I can get 2 orgasms in a row most times, especially if I haven't jacked off for at least 2 days. When I say in a row, I mean I'll cum the first time, stay fully erect, and if I continue to masturbate, I will cum again in less than 10 minutes, usually within 5 minutes of the first orgasm. Occassionally I can get a second orgasm within 2 minutes of the first. I also don't lose my erection for at least 5 minutes after I ejaculate if I don't touch my penis at all, and it will stay hard for much longer if I continue to stimulate it. I could also get hard again and achieve more orgasms, about 4 an hour, although I couldn't do 4 an hour every hour repeatedly - my record is 7 orgasms in about a 10 hour period. Some guys are multiorgasmic, and some aren't. The refractory period can vary considerably from guy to guy, and it doesn't decrease with age with everyone, just some. I just hate generalizations and assumptions.

Focus...you're such a stud! IF more of us were like this we'd never leave home! Or certainlynot have trouble getting or keeping sexual partners.
-
Well, that's what I based it on, good or bad. By the time I was 30, my refractory period was greater than it was when I was 16 (it was pretty close to zero then), and the make friends that I discussed it with concurred. That is certainly not scientific research, but it makes one think...that you may be an outlier.
It would be interesting to find out where the Kinsey Instutute got their data.

I agree. I think focus is more of an exception than the rule.
-
Cool - I feel special now
J/K - I'm not bragging - just stating my experience, and pointing out that you can't always generalize, as not everyone changes the same way as we get older.

I don't think Focus is the exception to the rule at all, especially if you factor in masturbation. Some guys produce more sperm than others and a lot faster. More guys can ejaculate more than once in a one hour period than people think. I think its mainly a genetics thing though. I'm almost 40 and usually can orgasm more than once in under an hour. 2 is usually enough for me, but I know I've done 3 in probably under an hour more than once. 4 is out of the question under any circumstance though...scared to even try really. My second orgasm is often better than my first too. I think genetics play a part and how turned-on you are can play a part also. So I think it can very for each guy.

I don't think Focus is the exception to the rule at allWe're not talking about a "rule" here. We're talking about a trend. If you and he function like younger men, it doesn't mean that you and he are not outliers. But I don't have the data at hand to show that you are.> more spermYou mean more semen. But the issue is more one of being able to get another erection and orgasm soon after you've done it once. Putting out fluid is another issue.> I think genetics play a part and how turned-on you are can play a part also. So I think it can very for each guy.No doubt. And it's not always good to generalize. But if you're marketing Viagra, it's useful to generalize. There is a general trend toward increasing refractory period and difficulty with erections as a man ages. I'm sure there are some 40-year-olds who are like 18-year-olds in that department, but I doubt that there are many 80-year-old who would fit that category.

Yes I did mean semen, sorry about that. From a medical standpoint, I can really see where point. I was just trying to say the other things can play into it also. Like how often your doing it! If your talking immmediately, then I tend to agree with you. If we're talking within an hour, I dunno. Don't wanna get to graphic here, but that scenario seems to suggest that most guys empty their tank the first time, which I don't believe is always the case. Guys orgasms don't vary as much as females, but they can and do vary.

All I'm saying is that there is a trend, as guys age, for it to take longer to be able to have an erection, and to orgasm, as a man ages. By "orgasm", I don't even mean actually putting out any semen. I don't know if tank-filling time (with fluid) increases as a man ages. There are a lot of sample variations. I am generalizing, in the sense that "guys are sexually attracted to women" is a generalization.
