As Amanda said we should, my girlfriend started taking the pills on Easter Sunday. She had been taking them regularly around 8:00 PM every day. This morning she informs me that she started her period. What the fuck? Not only should the pills have effected her cylce(right?), it's about 20 days late anyway. My first question is this: What do we do about the pills? Does she continue taking the pack she's started, or wait until Sunday to start a new pack?My second concern...last night she told me that she went to the bathroom, and when she wiped there was some blood that came from her vagina. She said it wasn't period-blood, and it was just a little bit. Could that have been a misscarriage...?

Are you sure it's not break through bleeding? I bet it's that and not her period. Break through bleeding can be common for the first few months on the pill until your body gets use to it.

She said it started around 10 this morning and it's still going. How long does the breakthrough bleeding usually last?
-
Her body is just adjusting to the change with the pills. She should NOT stop taking the pills. Continue with the pills on the regular schedule. Stopping makes things worse.

Okay, she took the pill like usual. But I still have two unanswered questions. How long does breakthrough bleeding usually last? And if by chance this IS her period, what does that mean?

It means nothing, and it can last a day, week whatever. just stick with it.
