I had been thinking about this lately, really, I do think. Anyways, What if there was another... Galaxy with another Solar System with life. And they evolved (going on the evolution theory) at the same pace and time we did. Except, the major domminating class/gene was a bird, or dolphin or something else besides ape. What do you think that would be like, more devoloped, evolved, technologicly advanced?
-
Ok, So What if...
-
prob the same as ours ...
-
If they didn't have an opposable thumb, they would have a tough time developing tools, which would make it hard to create guns and tennis rackets and written documents and Pop Tarts.
-
Just because humans use hands to amke things what makes you think other intelligent animals in another universe can't find something else?If this place really existed and they decided to visit our planet earth they'd probably laugh in our faces for using hands to do things
-
Or something that isnt carbon based like us, i wonder how that would affect things. (since i went beyond god i found something else to occupy my thoughts)
-
They don't have to have literal hands, but it would be hard to develop any kind of technology without being about to physically grasp things early in their technological evolution. They wouldn't be able to just will robots into existence.
I'm not sure that it would be possible to have no-carbon-based non-trivial life. Carbon kicks butt as a molecular scaffold for building complex molecules.
-
Hell, Forget about not only non carbon, but a whole new assortment of elements. (im getting beyond myself now)
-
Well who says they have to physically grasp it ... they might make something that sticks to them when they touch it (of course are able to control what "sticks" and what dones't) or whatever...My point is there would definetely be a way for someone/thing else in another universe to advance in technology like usIt doesn't even have to be technology they might have something completely different

tech*nol*o*gy P Pronunciation Key (tk-nl-j)
n. pl. tech*nol*o*gies
The application of science, especially to industrial or commercial objectives.
The scientific method and material used to achieve a commercial or industrial objective. So i think they would have to have science. What im wondering is, what could something evolve from to make a far more supurb being. Something that could...evolve and advance faster, and better with out the common problems today (aids, wars, idiot leaders) Or is all of that kind of relative?

Ever seen Planet of the Apes? They didn't have any computers or anything.. when I say technology I mean computers and shit even if the book definition says something else
-
The apes mastered the use of tools. There were no computers or jets a hundred years ago; their society was like that of humans living back then.Consider this: the most intelligent animals are predators. The dumbest ones are grazers. (The horse lovers are not going to like that.)
-
I said evolved from something else sticks tounge out apes already have humans to show for them
-
Apes stick their tongues out.

Assuming the theroy of evolution was true, if a domenating species could have evolved from somthing else wouldnt it have done it already? And also if the theroy of evolution was true if the evolving species needed fingers as part of thier survival they would evolve into a finger bearing species. Without fingers masturbation would be boring. There are way way way too many differant factors involved to predict if they would have the same sort of technology eg natural disasters, desiese, war. If the theroy of evolution was true we would have a bunch of half ape half human people things in the stages of evolving into humans. Darwin even admitted the theroy of evolution was wrong before he died. It just doesnt make sense to me at all.
-
no no no some where else far far away in another galaxy
-
Ya but if the conditions were the same then everything would have evolved the same. If evolution really was the way that all animals formed and such. Like say it was really cold then we would have evolved to be really furry with thicker skin and such.
-
> if a domenating species could have evolved from somthing else wouldnt it have done it already?
Why? Are you talking about humans, dinosaurs, or what came before? What does "dominationg" mean anyway? Modern humans are the only living things on Earth that have ever been really dominant. They may not even exist in a few hundred years.
> if the evolving species needed fingers as part of thier survival they would evolve into a finger bearing species
Fingers aren't necessary for surivial, but having fingers confers an advantage, as does having eyes.
> Without fingers masturbation would be boring.
Unless you used a tree or another person. Dogs seem to do OK in that department, even without fingers.
> If the theroy of evolution was true we would have a bunch of half ape half human people things in the stages of evolving into humans.
That is not correct. You get a change in an individual, and if it's sucessful, it spreads quickly. If not, then the change dies out. Populations of a species tend to change in lockstep.
> Darwin even admitted the theroy of evolution was wrong before he died.
He did? If so, then it was because he didn't have the knowledge of modern science at his disposal.
> It just doesnt make sense to me at all.
Read this book: The Blind Watchmakeer, by Richard Dawkins.

I believe we all came from llamas
-
I didnt say the same conditions, they could be something other then carbon based. all i mean was the same time period
-
Skittles-based life.Or maybe we're all living on an atom in a llama turd.
