Hi! I am 21 years of age and i have a problem with foreskin retraction.I have a tight skin bridge that connects the glans to the foreskin (is it called the frenum?).5 years ago i visited a urologist and he told me that i had a tight something (frenum i guess...i didn't catch it properly lol). When my penis is flaccid, i can only retract my foreskin halfway down the shaft.I just can't go beyond that because the skin bridge becomes very tight. The urologist told me that i would have problems during intercourse and masturbation.I have been masturbating regularly for many years now and i don't experience pain during erection or ejaculation. But yes, i can't retract my foreskin when my penis is erect (just a little beyond the head ..2 cms max). Will i have any pain during actual intercourse? I have been assuming that there won't be much pain with a condom worn as i don't find masturbation painful. How can the problem with the tight skin bridge be solved? I cannot venture beyond the halfway point when it comes
to cleaning. Is that safe when it comes to hygiene? Is smegma harmful?

Hey bud, I'm uncut to so I totally understand your equipment and your questions. I'm afraid I need just a bit of clarification though, when you retract your foreskin how far does it go down? Just over the head or down onto the shaft of your penis? If you can completely uncover the head, then smegma can easily be removed from the head and the underside of your foreskin without problems. Other than being a nuisance and potentially having quite the odor, smegma isn't a problem if things are cleaned daily under there. As to intercourse and your frenulum, if you can put on a condom and masturbate without pain or problems then you're ok. In some instances the frenulum can be stretched with a bit of work. This happens by slowly and consistently stretching the foreskin further down the shaft of your penis. In some cases a doc can perform what is called a frenuloplasty (sp?) that will loosen it a bit. Drop me a note back and lets see what I missed here, also if you don't mind provide the answers to those questions and I'll see if I can help. One other thing, this is totally common and easily overcome so don't get too worked up about things!

It's a problem becasue you can't clean properly; you may be more prone to infections; during sex, your forskin will get forced back potentially tearing the frenulum; the forskin can get stuck behind the head during an erection (which can be dangerous).... You need some more reasons???
Read the thread above called Forsking Stretching

Well...i can retract my foreskin over the head of my penis...approx 5 cms down the shaft after which the frenum doesn't let me go further! (this means that i can completely uncover my head) So the rest remains covered and it has been so for the past 21 years (my age).I don't have much time to worry about this , at least for the next 5 years. And sex isn't imminent.I want to know whether i could be prone to infections.I clean my glans and my foreskin as much as i can (5 cms from the tip or the head).I haven't had any infections in the past. From what i have heard and read, some people don't even know that they must retract their foreskin all the way down on a regular basis to keep it clean. Some people realize this in their 30s.So,oddly enough, that was comforting .So, would i be prone to infections??? I try to keep it as clean as possible. And i can only think of medical or surgical intervention in the late future.Do let me know

Hey bud, this isn't going to be something that will cause you alot of work or struggles but you do need to get that foreskin down over the head of your penis so you can keep things clean under there. I'm going to suggest that you jump over to the foreskin stretching thread just a couple above this one. You'll find some info from me about how to work with and stretch that foreskin (and frenulum as well) to allow for easier cleaning. You'll be glad you did this as the head of your lil guy will bring you lots of pleasure after its exposed during masturbation and sexual things. Let us know if you need more help.

Sorry, I just skimmed your original post. I had the impression that you couldn't fully retract. But if you can retract the forskin behind the head when fully erect and it is not too tight or uncomfortable, then you are fine. You are always going to have soem tightness in the frenulum. You can never really fully retract the forskin all the way down the shaft without some tightness unless you were to cut the frenulum. Maybe some guys have long/stretchy frenulums and are able to do so, but I think you are just fine. You can do some stretching as lance said to help loosen things up.

If you can do that, then you're perfectly fine and normal. If you can fully expose the head while erect, you're good to go. Pulling the foreskin back further down the shaft is "optional" and completely unnecessary.
The frenulum isn't a skin bridge or any other kind of problem. It's a perfectly normal part of the anatomy of the intact penis, and is supposed to be there, and do its job as a tether to help keep the foreskin forward over the head when not in use. It's also a source of massive amounts of pleasure and sensitivity, so treat it with respect!
