My stomach has been rumbling and vibrating lately. It seems to make a lot of noise and feel very awkward. I have tried simethicone from the drugstore, but it didn't work too well. Does anyone know anything that controls this? Rolaids don't help either.

Stomach rumbling
-
It could just be a stomach virus. Have you been noticing lately that your stomach is senstive to any foods?
-
Rolaids and Tums neutralize stomach acid, and when the do that gas is produced, so I doubt that it would help. Do you have any other symptoms, like diarrhea, fever, or cramps?
-
No, I don't seem to be sensitive to foods other than peanut butter, which almost always gives me an acid stomach. I also don't think I have a fever because I feel fine other than the frequent rumblings and vibrations down below. I am taking an ulcer medication that the doctor said might reduce the reaction of the intestines, but it is for ulcers and hardly works for my problem. It seems so embarrassing.

I have looked around and found that veggies and whole foods may be bad for stomach rumbling because they can produce gas in the intestines, and yoghurt may be good because it has the opposite effect. So, I've cut back on veggies and increased my yoghurt intake, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I've also tried both starving and overeating, and neither seemed to work (nor does eating regular which I usually do). When I massage my intestines I often hear horrible noises of gas mixed with the innards. I do not generally flatulate. My doctor says it is simply an embarrassing condition. But I am worried it may offend people because it is almost constantly making sounds. Has anyone had a similar experience or know of any food combinations that may work at reducing this? I am ready to try anything. (BTW, otherwise I am healthy and about at my ideal weight)Thank you

If vegetables just make you rumble, I wouldn't give them up. They are very good for your health, and rumbling is not bad for your health. I'm not sure what you can do about it; people just need to get used to it.I don't understand how you can have that much gas in your intestines, though, without passing out the gas.

I have the same problem, it happens to me in class all the time. The girl next to me thought it was thunder its so loud. And it wont come out as gas either, i dont understand
-
I am surprised that there is no medical cure since these articles seem to indicate the problem is somewhat common.
-
Not all common things are curable. There's no cure for death, and death is exceedingly common.
-
Well its not always necessarily a problem. Like the one article says, its the movement of water and air through the intestines to push the solids out to make way for new solids. Thats natural and you wouldnt want to stop that from happening

Actually it's a fault of the sound this movement makes. I'm worried because people have complained and I have been woken up at night because of the sound, and it doesn't seem to be so hard for medical science to take care of if it's so simple. Somebody should request it from the AMA.

it doesn't seem to be so hard for medical science to take care of if it's so simpleIt's simple to describe, but hard to fix.> Somebody should request it from the AMA.If only life were so simple. The AMA is just a doctor's organization (sort of like a labor union). They don't fund or direct medical research. It might be nice if the government would fund more research on bowel diseases, though.
