I dont understand. How can they make ou pay it off? Anyways if you left when 18 and you didn't pay them off, what are they going to do?
-
What's the point
-
I'll have paid them back long before then. It's "only" $3500
-
Was military school their idea or yours? If it was theirs, I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about the debt. Tell them you'll leave them some money in your will.
-
Steve, definetely not my idea.Did any of you guys read waht I said?> I'm sure if I said "fuck your debt, it's my money" they would make it worse than ever for me.

So it's like blackmail? If you're not making a ton of money, and you're giving them a lot of what you make, then how are you supposed to get established on your own? Will they lend you money next year for first and last month's rent and security deposit on an apartment?
-
So it's like blackmail? That's exactly what it is> If you're not making a ton of money, and you're giving them a lot of what you make, then how are you supposed to get established on your own?Well I've paid them back I think $1100 ... and that took me about 2.5 months or so.. not sure.... but I should have paid them back in a few months ... and after that I'll just asve up everything I can make ... like I said haven't done the math or anything, but I hope it's enough... I guess I should probably crunch some numbers to see if I need to get a second job ... but I'm making about $350 - $400 every 2 weeks and I gotta give them $200 of it, the rest is mine to keep> Will they lend you money...lol, no
-
They sound like complete jerks.

$300,000 doesn't buy much of a house anymore, remember that nasty interest. IE: A $150,000 house (If you're so lucky to find one that cheap) plus 7% interest (6% is the prime rate right now) over 25 years, will cost you $315,000 by the end (Assuming rates are this good for that whole time)
-
Multiply that by a large number and you got it.I thought you've read my posts a while ago, I've mentioned it about a hundred times or so that they suck
-
Wow, sorry...my last message just depressed me (As well as others, I'm sure)However, The Helmsman really does have the best advice around here. Kudos to you, sir.

Didn't depress me, since I know I would never be able to afford that kinda house, and even if I could afford it, I wouldn't buy it
