Who do you think will be the MVP and why?

From Chris Sullentrop's blog today:Quote:Allen St. John, the “By the Numbers” sports columnist for The Wall Street Journal, crunches the data and concludes that Sunday’s Super Bowl is a mismatch. The Indianapolis Colts, whom bettors have deemed to be seven-point favorites, are greatly outclassed by the Chicago Bears according to several historically important metrics. “[T]he Bears not only have a chance this Sunday — the numbers suggest they should be the favorites,” St. John writes. “And if the Colts cap their playoff run with a win, they’re not just meeting expectations, but pulling off one of Super Bowl history’s biggest upsets.”Among the key statistics: “Over the last 22 Super Bowls, 18 — 86% of them — were won by the team that came into the game after allowing fewer regular-season points. (In the 2004-05 regular season, the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles each allowed 260 points.)” The Bears allowed 255 points, “third-best in the NFL,” while the Colts allowed 360 points, “more than any team that has won the Super Bowl.” St. John adds, “Since the advent of the 16-game schedule in 1978, only three winning teams allowed 300 or more points in a season — the 1983-84 Raiders (338), the 1998-99 Broncos (309) and the 1980-81 Raiders (306).”

With all due respect, I think statistics like that are pointless in predicting who will win a game. Between the Colts and IU basketball tearing it up, it's a helluva time to be a Hoosier!
-
I'd have to say, I am a Hoosier!!!
-
Hey the Colts are not an evil team lolThe Colts stole away from Baltimore in the dead of the night. One day the people of Baltimore had a team, the next day they didn't. It's kind of like breaking up with your girlfriend by just disappearing one night. It's evil.

> IU basketball tearing it up
They're not in any danger of being ranked any time soon (they just lost to Iowa), but it is impressive that they beat Wisconsin (and they're lucky they're not playing them again). They will almost certainly be in the NCAA tournament.
Now let's see if the Colts can beat the spread.

Since I'm not betting on the game, I have no dog in that fight. I got burned a long time ago betting a dollar a point on the Broncos...Elway done me wrong. I learned my lesson...never again. The Superbowl is more of a social phenomenon than a game...and a big moneymaker for the local economy (Miami Beach seems to be cleaning up). They're selling Superbowl junk (like shirts and beads) for ridiculous amounts of money on Ocean Drive. But I did get some very nice photos of Carmen Elektra. She's still hot, and surprisingly articulate.
-
She was coming up the red carpet, going up the outside stairs, into the Loews Hotel complex for a Superbowl party (may have been in the Royal Palm hotel...not sure...I wasn't invited). On the way up the stairs, she talked to people in the crowd, on the other side of the velvet ropes. After that, she was being interviewed for some TV show...not sure what network, didn't recognize the guy with the mike. She did have a pretty long talk with the person next to me, though. I should've put on a Borat voice and licked her cheek. I took this picture. Jenny McCarthy showed up just before Carmen Elektra did.
-
It does look kind of Alice Cooper, but in looks better in real life than it does in my poorly-lit, unretouched photo. I do have serous questions about the naturalness of her boobs.
The only people I've seen who really look like their published photos are Anna Kournikova and Bill Gates.
-
Looks like she has on too much eyeliner.
-
As I said, Jenny McCarthy was also there. I don't think the A-listers were at that party that night.....or they slipped in through the service entrance.
-
Definite tweaker.....
-
Not sure what Jenny McCarthy's deal is, but Carmen Elektra was married to Dennis Rodman. That pretty much covers it.
-
And me.
-
You and the hundreds of millions of people whose photographs aren't routinely retouched.
-
So. The game is on. And I'm about ready to shove a sock down my mom's throat because of my mom yelling at the tv like a fricking neanderthol.
-
The Colts easily beat the spread. It looks like the Wall Street Journal's prognostications on the Superbowl are no better than their prognostication on the war in Iraq.
-
Colts won, great day for Hoosiers...
