From BBC Word Services article: Israel and Iran Share Most Negative ratings in Global Poll (PDF format):Quote:Most people believe Israel and Iran have a mainly negative influence in the world with almost as many saying the same about North Korea and the United States, according to a BBC World Service poll of 28,000 people across 27 countries. People were asked to rate 12 countries – Britain, Canada, China, France, India, Iran, Israel, Japan, North Korea, Russia, the USA, Venezuela – and the European Union, as having a positive or negative influence. ...It's important to realize that the U.S. was held in much higer esteem around the world four years ago; the world didn't suddenly become jealous. A few years ago, Indonesians gave the U.S. a high rating; a few years later, it was very low.

This is what happens when a chimpanzee runs the country into illegal wars. The only thing I can say about it is that anyone who didnt see it coming a few years back is blind. We are much more a target when traveling abroad simply because we are americans than we were in te not so distant past.It takes a real monster to take an entire worlds sympathies after the 9-11 attacks and run them into the ground and make you the most hated people on the planet in such a short time.
-
That would be third-most-hated, I believe, but it is sad that all that sympathy and support, including through the Afghan invasion, was squandered. It has a lot more to do with things like Abu Gharib than jealousy.

Fuck oh shit.... couple things, first off we are percieved as the most negative causing effects for te country, but it doenst say whos the most hated in over all portions.I injected my own feelings about us being number one but if we are not then I bet we are higher than number 3.Second, and more importantly, Last night I watched some shti on HBO, the prision story on abu gharib.Did ya happen to catch it?It really couldnt of come out any different than it did.I agree fucking terrorist crying about some minor treatment issues, fuckin bo hoo, they deserve it.This time though, noone had ANY proof they were terrorist aside from they lived in Iraq. Iraq was never the fucking terroist place that it became after Saddams removal from power. He fucked his own people, but there has never been a proven connection between himself and the factions that attacked us.the minor inconvienences were not so minor.Murders of people, beaten to death and written off as a heart attack. Old men tourtured to death and when his son is asking the guards to get a doctor and help them being told to go back and shut up if he bothered them again he would be shot...People were rounded up and stuck there with no rights, no official charges, no reasons to be held, simply because they could be.Chained in stress positions for hours till they were screaming from the pain and told to confess. SItting watching while yuor brother is tortured and told to confess or youd soon be watching your mother in your brothers position. Even if they confessed, who the fuck wouldnt confess to shit they had no idea of in those situations?I can understand the hatred for us, we certainly did nothing to fight against its build up.

Last night I watched some shti on HBO, the prision story on abu gharib.Yes, I caught part of it.The sad thing is that there are still people here justifying torture. (What would Jesus say about that?) By an large, the people who were rounded up there and in Afghanistan (and who are now at Guantanamo) are people who got a bounty for turning in people they had a personal issue with. Hardly any of them had any terrorist connections. We treat Iraqis and Afghanis like animals, and we wonder why they hate us.If you caught the closing credits of the HBO program, you may have noticed that every Abu Gharib prisoner mentioned was let out withing 5 months...after they were tortured.Rumsfeld is by any reasonable measure a war criminal, and in a large part, the current dangerous situation that the U.S. finds itself in is his fault. But it's ultimately the fault of Bush, who has been revealed by things that came out during the Scooter Libbey trial as Cheney's sidekick.Mark my words: Cheney (and Bush) will go down as one of the worst presidents ever. Those guys have done incalculable damage to the U.S., far more damage than Al Qaida could dream of doing. If bin-Laden could have chosen the president in 2004, he surely would have selected Bush. And now Al-Qaida and the Taliban are resurgent. Wait until you see what they have in store for Afghanistan in the spring.

I went outside to smoke as it ended, I walked out when ti was showing the MPs and telling what they got for thier parts in it. a reduction in rank, 3 fuckig months in a military prison, fucking bullshit sentences. And Graner, holy fucking shit graner, 10 years, but the fucker, everyone knew what he was doing, and he recieved written fucking citations of greatness for doing it and told to keep it all up.Rummy, thta prick releasing the fucking guys name on TV, while he was still in country, and still at the base, when he was supposed to be annonimous ?tell me that was accidental ?Sadly that whole incident is one shining example of what has gone on, its nto even the only, its a single incident that was exposed, how much worse shit has gone on that has not come to light?
-
Not a lot of that stuff has been photographed or videotaped, so we will probably never have direct knowledge of it. But the problem was (and is) systemic. That there were a few bad apples is bullshit.
