I'm really starting to worry about something: my last menstrual period started October 30th, the day before Halloween. ....And then on Thanksgiving I got what I thought was a warning sign(mostly a WEIRD mood) and I think a little warning pain- and then--- nothing. I'm a virgin, so it can't be pregnancy. But what is wrong, then? This week, I have barely felt ANY signs. All I felt last night was a craving for chocolate, and I guess imaginary cramps o_O but that's about it.Usually the warning sings I get are: mild acne, chocolate craving, PAIN, some mood issues, and a heavy feeling in my abdomen (usually the last one happens the day before my menstrual starts)...Due to school, I havn't been getting a lot of sleep lately. At all. This week alone I went 3 days with only 7 hours of sleep. And for the past few months, I've been getting gradually off schedule monthly-wise. This is the worst though (and since it's Finals, this is also the least sleep I've been getting). What freaks me out is while I've suffered sleep deprivation before (insomnia), it's never affected my period. My period HAS shifted in the past, but it was always very gradual. Right now though- nothing. And I'm worried. The worst problems I've felt in the past was SEVERE cramps- especially as a teen. I mean, I would pass out if I did not take any medication. The pain problem evaporated not so long ago so I don't hurt nearly as much as I used to (though sometimes it's still very intense)-- but right now I feel nothing. It's like I skipped a period.I know I should see a doctor but... I'm kinda scared. Anyone had this happen to them?

That seems pretty normal. It seems to me like you're having irregular periods. I had that also. What I did was go to the gynecologist and she put me on birth control.
If your cramps are THAT severe, then you should go to the doctor as well.

Yeah, the warning signs are normal :P hee. I would go for the pill, but I've been on it before and with me, it's kinda... russian roulette. Eek. The first time I was on it, it went great- but then they switched companies and I was on a different perscription- It was still the pill, but it seriously messed with me. I started to bleed at random for a month before I tossed the pill in the trash- right after I did so, things leveled out and back to normal. But that wasn't fun. I'll consider the pill again, but I'm not too keen on it after my last adventure- if you can call it that...

But you still need to see a doctor so you can discuss what would be the best thing for you. Cramps shouldn't be that painful. And if you had irregular periods before, it may be a sign that something's up and it needs to be checked out. Plus, there are other methods besides the pill.

you might have irregular periods like virtual_star said or ploycystic ovaries, it runs in my family, my sister has it really bad and she only gets periods like 4 times a year, its on and off with her and she doesnt get any signs, i think i have the same thing as you, my last period was probly a week before halloween, but before that i was taking yasmin(bc) and that helped alot but my dad took me off it so now im pretty much shit out of luck lol but i think you should go see a doc about your pains and try the pill again, and i have a question, do you sometimes get your periods for like only a day? Just wondering, cuz i do, im just as confused as you i guess 8)

Quick question-Could missing your period be caused by or related to low blood pressure? I've been stressed out and sleep deprived in the past, worse than I am now, and still got my period no matter how bad I felt. But these past few months I've shown signs of low blood pressure. And the last time I went to the doctor a few months ago, they told me my blood pressure was a little low. I barely noticed it then, but I feel it now.It would explain why I feel cold almost all the time, why I get light headed when I move too fast or get up too fast... It's just a theory.I would say it's just me being sleep deprived, but I've felt like this before I've had to miss a lot of sleep- before finals crunch time (which I am in now)I'm going to the doc this weekend, so I guess I might know for sure by then-- but in the meantime... Is it possible? I have also been showing some PMS signs, but... no period yet. : / It's been 6 weeks now...

I haven't heard anything about low blood pressure being a part of menstruation, so I have no idea. But it could be linked to you feeling cold and lightheaded.I am betting that the serious lack of sleep and stress you're going through is causing your period to be late. Although, six weeks is a long time.

yes- six weeks is long- and that's what scares me. ._.

Working on that, Helmsman- it's just difficult since I'm at school from like 9am to 7pm monday through thursday and I've had busy weekends- though I'm definately going in this week since finals are almost over (thankfully). gah. I think it is stress that's getting to me..
-
Are you in a city with a Planned Parenthood?? Sometimes they have late hours. Otherwise, try to find a doctor or clinic that keeps late hours, some do...I think probably nothing is deathly wrong (Helms was being protective...) But if it is buggin' you that much, do get it checked out. It will make you feel better.K

it could just be because of your sleep schedule maybe it will go back to normal after finals

Update: So After my last post, I went to a doctor, got a pap test (insert sarcastic yay here) and-- days later, I got my period on the 15th. The doctor said some women will actually skip periods not just because of stress, but also as they get older. I may be turning 23 in a few months, but don't think I'm getting /that/ old. :P Anyway- it's been a month (I've caught up on sleep) and no sign of my period again; nor did a test result come back to me and no news is good news with medical tests. The doctor also said everything looks normal and healthy so I guess my body really is changing it's schedule.Weird. Eh, less cramps for me I guess.

I went 6 months without having a period. No, I was not pregnant. It turned out that I have something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) If that rings a bell. A lot of girls get it shortly after puberty. It's a disease where the period can go haywire and even stop. You may also get diabetic-like symptoms, weight trouble and other things. try googling it... it can give you more info...

one other sign of pcos is depression which can cause lack of sleep. All you've been saying reminds me of how I was before I got the diagnosis... If all I've said sounds like you, talk with an endocrinologist.
