Hello,Okay so my fiancee and I have been together for the past 4 years. Just with each other. No one else. We do have unprotected sex. However, we both have concerned lately with our past partners. One that I slept with unprotected in 04' was cheating on me so I never knew if he had something. To make a long story short, he put me through soo much shit, I'm already a ball of stress as it is, so after we broke up, I developed the shingles. (about 2 weeks after roughly speaking) Dermatologist diagnosed me with shingles, said it was from stress, gave me some special lotion, and I was on my way. Haven't had them since and am a fairly healthy person. 5 years later I'm concerned that I have HIV. I know HIV is mostly something that does not have symptoms, but I am still nervous. I was tested for STD's after the guy in 04' or 05' and it was negative. My fiancee is concerned with his past partner as well. We are both still going to get tested, however I just wanted to post on here and get some feedback. Thanks. In addition, I am a major hypochondriac so I have been driving myself crazy over this. Hope we don't have HIV Also, keep in mind that no one has ever ejaculated in me. Ever.

HIV?

Not sure what your question is... Are you asking if we think it's possible you have HIV? No one can give you an answer until you both are tested within a reasonable period "after" you've been with someone else.. and that period has long passed.
-
Yes that's what I am asking. So are you saying I would have had symptoms by now?
-
I'm not saying anything. I'm saying it it takes a period of time after infection for tests to work. I don't know much about HIV and AIDS. All I'm saying is that if you are worried about HIV, get tested. You questions about posibilities is pointless.
_How long after a possible exposure should I wait to get tested for HIV?
Most HIV tests are antibody tests that measure the antibodies your body makes against HIV. It can take some time for the immune system to produce enough antibodies for the antibody test to detect and this time period can vary from person to person. This time period is commonly referred to as the "window period". Most people will develop detectable antibodies within 2 to 8 weeks (the average is 25 days). Even so, there is a chance that some individuals will take longer to develop detectable antibodies. Therefore, if the initial negative HIV test was conducted within the first 3 months after possible exposure, repeat testing should be considered >3 months after the exposure occurred to account for the possibility of a false-negative result. Ninety seven percent will develop antibodies in the first 3 months following the time of their infection. In very rare cases, it can take up to 6 months to develop antibodies to HIV.Another type of test is an RNA test, which detects the HIV virus directly. The time between HIV infection and RNA detection is 9-11 days. These tests, which are more costly and used less often than antibody tests, are used in some parts of the United States.

Since you had unfaithful partner, and you are so concerned about it. You'd better have a test. Even doctors can not tell if a person has HIV or not without a test, not to say us without a picture of HIV symptoms.
