What you say is true whereby older men may be more financially secure and mentally stable. But what about the men in their "mid-life crisis"; having affairs with girls at the same age as their daughters? When a man starts poaching his daughters friends just to tell the world, "Hey, I'm still virile!", do you think that is right?A few years ago, my neighbour, a 37 year old single mother, started dating a 18 year old boy her daughter used to hang out with. As dating an older woman is every teenage boy's fantasy, he went back and told her daughter, "Hey, I'm doing your Mom!". Now the mother and daughter are estranged. Usually it is not the "poacher" or the"cougar", but the innocent person gets hurt.

What's the big deal about age difference?

Does anyone watch the OC???? Luke and Marissa's mom looks like they're about to hook up!!!

Websex - I understand but the thing is I've dated guys my age and they've been very immature. One hit me (yep..only once..I'm no push over and if you hit me..I'm outta there), several cheated on me, most were just boys who thought they were men but in the end it turned out they were just "children".Mouse - You're not suggest that my boyfriend is going through his mid-life are you? Not all men go through those. Do I think that particular scenario would be okay to carry out? Not really. Using someone for sex just to make yourself feel adequate isn't right. However, if you're of legal age and you're consenting it's all up to you. It's none of my business. As I've previously said, age is just a number. It was meant for nothing more than to tell how long you've been around. It shouldn't matter how old someone is. What matters are how they make you feel inside? My boyfriend makes me like a new person every day. He makes me want to be better.

lol. I wasn't trying to direct what I said toward you. I was just trying to remind everyone that there are some exceptions out there. The guys you are talking about aren't exceptions at all.I'm familiar with the age difference relationships. I'm not trying to attack you. In fact, I'm supporting someone I know that's in a very age different situation right now.
-
I know you weren't and I apologize if I sounded cross. I know there are exceptions to the rule but in my case I didn't and have not found any. My boyfriend is wonderful and while a guy my age could be too I've stopped looking because I don't need to look any further. You seem like a great guy and like someone who could be one of those exceptions and so my wish and prayer for you is that you meet a girl who is worthy of you, your personality, and your kindness.

Thank you Cenfath. Those are very kind words. In regards specifically to your situation, I think your guy makes you happy and that's the most important thing. Try not to feel discouraged by other people's judgements and all the crap you hear about your relationship with him. As you know, my best friend has a relationship with someone like you do, so I know how it can be. I'm sure you're strong and you know all this though. Anyways, that's my opinion.

You're welcome. You're right. He does make me happy. So happy in fact that there are times where he's speaking and what he says strikes a chord with me so great I just break down and cry. Not because I'm sad but because the happiness I feel is too much to express.

Hmmm, interesting. I've had girls do that only a couple times when I said something. Out of curiosity, what does he say? Bring out the mushiness!!
-
Cenfath: No, my posting was not directed to your specific relationship. I think when people raise their eyebrows when they see a couple with a difference in age, it is where the age gap is large or the situation is strange. Take my neighbour as an example; why would a 37-year-old woman date an 18-year-old boy who hangs out with her 17-year-old daughter? The daughter was a good kid, worked two jobs to save money to put herself through college. The daughter moved out and is working in a restaurant across town. I'm not implying or judging that all "May-December" relationships are bad. I was just trying to explain why some people might jump to conclusions, be it warranted or not.

Websex - It's just little stuff. It doesn't have to be anything mushy either. Hell, it could be about politics. lolMouse - Our age difference is quite big. 15 years to be exact. I understand what you're saying. My problem is with other people though and the raising of eyebrows. I look at it as throwing the gauntlet and get hopping mad...more especially when it's the really little old ladies. They just seem to have this old buzzard look that just gets under your skin. I know, that's an awful thing to say.. If you're of legal age, as far as I'm concerned what you do is your business, however, just like me, you'll need to get used to the glares and stares because they don't ever stop. My boyfriend is well worth the effort. In response to the mother daugther and friend situation. It may have had nothing to do with her daughter. She may really like him and he may really like her. Or they could just be fooling around but what business is it of our what people do behind closed door, you know? The only time I would have a big problem was if this kid was under age and from what you said I just assumed he was legal. Yeah, it would hav been nice if the mother had taken her daughter's feelings into consideration but like I said, it more than likely had nothing to do with her or whether she was a good kid or not.
