I'm on birth control pills (I've been on them forever; I take them at the same time everyday, don't miss any, etc.) and I was on an antibiotic (Flagyl) recently for an infection. Anyway, I was really stupid and got caught up in the moment and had unprotected sex a couple times with my fiance while on this antibiotic. It was 12-16 days into my cycle too (when most women typically ovulate) which is EVEN MORE STUPID. What are your opinions on the chances of me getting pregnant?

Need some friendly advice.

Well when you're on the pill you don't ovulate to begin with. The pill prevents ovulation. Did your doctor know that you were on the pill at the same time?

You ovulate if your pills aren't effective because of an antibiotic! Yes, she told me to use a back up method during the antibiotic, but I didn't... I was just wondering what the likelyhood really is. How much antibiotics really mess up your birthcontrol.

Well the chances of you ovulating that quickly are slim. It takes most women a few months after they get off the pill to begin ovulating again. Anyways there's always a chance, wait a few weeks and then take a pregnancy test.

Thank you - it always feels good to get reassurance. My period is due in a few days... Next time I'll be smarter. Nothing is worth this relentless worrying.
