I don't think anyone of us can anwer that. I think you'd still have feeling even know the nerve is cut.

And for one, tiptronic isn't great! In any cases, the shifts are slow due to computer processing. Yet, with a manual transmision the shift is instant, but if you aren't good at driving stick a auto/tiptronic would be faster.
-
I think BMW is starting to use Tiptronic in their race cars. They've now gotten very fast (I think Audi's, at least, is faster than humanly possible).Didn't BMW drop the regular standard on the new M5?
-
No, it's a 7 speed SMG(Sequential F1 shifting). It's 35% faster than a race car driver can shift, so they say. Plus, you can launch off the line fast and better than humanly possible. So they say, but still nothing compares to the old fashon way of driving! It will be interesting to see if my brother goes for Manual, SMG, or auto/tip.
-
Yeah, the F1 transmissions are beginning to make their way into the consumer auto market. In F1s today, they have a manual clutch, which they have to use for starting, but after that they usually just signal the gear change using a button and allow the computer to handle the clutching. The computer is of course very high tech and it can clutch better than any person can.
But with most tiptronics etc. there is a delay. So after you shift, it'll be a second or two before the gear kicks in. Also, they usually don't allow you to redline. If you're at really high RPMs, it will shift automatically.

"And speaking of foreskin, what happens to the cut nerves after the skin is cut? Are they still sensitive?"
The nerves in the foreskin are excised and thus gone. There is no doubt that all the sensitivity of the foreskin is lost after circumcision. The only debate is about GLANS sensitivity.
-
The nerve endings are harvested with the foreskin. But what happens to the rest of the nerve that's left behind? Over time? Thanks, SMG what what I was looking for, not Tiptronic. However fast gears can shift now without clutch, I guearantee it'll be faster in a few years, once they really get the mechanics down. The new M5 supposedly has such a complex shift pattern that it'd be pretty hard for a human to work it manually (because they arranged the gears for maximum efficiency and ruggedness...especially the low gears). The shift is cool, but when I'm in Miami rush-hour traffic, I wish I had an SMG....or even an automatic.CNBC is doing a lot of Car Show coverage today.
-
After a while though, manual transmission just becomes second nature and it doesn't feel inconvenient.
-
Then you've never driven a standard in Boston or Miami rush-hour traffice. Left foot going to sleep is never convenient. Any my car has a bitch of a clutch spring.

In reply to: The nerves in the foreskin are excised and thus gone. There is no doubt that all the sensitivity of the foreskin is lost after circumcision. The only debate is about GLANS sensitivity. There is a lot of information available through google showing that sensitivity of the glans decreases after circumcision. This is easily verified by men that are circumcised after wearing a forskin most of their lives since they have experience both ways. The foreskin has a lot of nerve endings in it but the experience of orgasm is mostly concentrated in the glans.Should I be posting this in the automotive forum?
-
Don't be afraid to ask. One thing to remember is their is never a stupid question, except for this one. WTF, like you can tell penis sensitivity from facial expressions?
-
Oh I've done plenty of rush hour driving in the the New York city area with my Subaru (manual transmission). It really didn't bother me at all. I guess if your clutch is all messed up that would be aproblem, but if not, it wouldn't really.
-
Awww Kat_man that is where you are wrong. There are no dumb questions but just dumb people like me!
-
From what I've heard, cut guys are not so sensitive (there). I guess they get something like callousing since there's no foreskin to protect the glans anymore. For me I really hate touching my uncovered glans because it's so sensitive (I'm uncut BTW).

Very astute questions, AsianPlayBoy, very astute indeed, though your attempt to compare individuals tends to miss the forest for the trees. Your questions don't warrant quick, facile answers, either. Books have been written about this subject. However, let me attempt to summarize. For very young men, there is not a pronounced difference in penile sensitivity between an intact male and a fellow who has been circumcised, considering the raging hormones of the young. Neither is there a critical difference for young females in short-term sex between partners who may be intact or those who may be circumcised. Problems, however, accumulate over time for both male and female in relationships in which the male is circumcised. The foreskin contains the most nerve-rich tissue on a man's body. Slicing away and disposing that nerve-rich tissue is an act incomprehensible to a majority of the world's population and it is an act fraught with danger for the sexual happiness of both men and women.A constantly exposed glans penis will suffer harsh chafing, gradually losing what little sensitivity it does possess, in comparison with the glans penis and the foreskin of an intact male. In order to achieve satisfaction, the circumcised male characteristically pounds against his female partner's body, and his thrusts have been compared to those of a battering ram. A circumcised man can't help it, however. It's how he must have sex in order to achieve orgasm. The consequence for the female in long-term relationships is dry, chafing, uncomfortable intercourse. Messy, artificial lubricants often become necessary, as a means of reducing pain.Sexual intercourse with an intact male, on the other hand, has been characterized as slow, gentle, tender, and loving. With all of his penile nerve endings intact, the intact male doesn't need to pound to achieve satisfaction. Therefore sexual intercourse between a woman and an intact man is more satisfying for both partners, especially in long-term relationships.Ideally, you see, the vaginal sphincter should push the foreskin of an intact man back, upon entry, off the glans penis, exposing the sensitive mucous membrane of the glans to the corresponding mucous membrane of the vaginal walls. With each withdrawal, however, the same vaginal sphincter should force the foreskin back over the glans penis, an action which helps to preserve vaginal moisture. In circumcised sex vaginal moisture is wicked to the outside air, prompting a progressive drying of the vagina: hence, uncomfortable, chafing intercourse. Combined with the increase in time necessary for older, circumcised men to achieve orgasm during intercourse, the problem becomes progressively worse, as couples age. This pain and discomfort is one reason why many older couples tend to reduce their frequency of intercourse.Korydon

Why do you sound like my english professor....
-
Hmmm...and what does your English prof say when you make inquiries concerning sex? By the way, as long as we are discussing English, the proper word is "intact". Characterizing the normal, intact penis with a term which relates back to circumcision, as though genital mutilation were a natural consequence of birth, is illustrative of muddleheaded thinking and self-deception. It's preferable to use words with more accuracy, else they reveal prejudice or youthful naivete. How's that for professorial chutzpa?Korydon

If the idea is to get one's point across, korydon succeeds. Some of the stuff he covers is technical, so there's no easy way to dumb it down. He uses paragraphs, which makes it readable. And the fact that he minds his spelling shows that he respects the reader of his posts.Imagine trying to describe physiology using IM-speak.
