Ureaplasma and mycoplasma are not rare. (I think I read someone here say it was?) They are NOT considered STD's because they are not only transmitted through sex. You can get these bugs from using a public toilet. However, if you get it, you can pass it to your boyfriend through sex. If your doctor is nice enough he will give you a prescription for you and your partner to take. If you only take the antibiotic and your partner does not, then he will pass is back to you. Mycoplasma makes it feel like you have a UTI. Which it pretty much is, it's just a different bacteria. E-coli, klebsiella, and enterococcas are the more common bacteria for UTI's. Primary doctors sometimes don't think to look for mycoplasma because, as I said above, the other's are more common. And I believe they test seperate for mycoplasma. That's why it's best to see a urologist when you seem to have recurrent UTI's. They are more careful and observant when it comes to these bugs. So my advice to you would be, see a urologist.

Well, I have just formed the impression that they are rare. The doctor told me that the last time she saw them was two or three years ago, so she decided not to test me for them, even though I insisted. I have had recurrent cyctitus, which I think is pretty much the same as a UTI which can be explained by mycoplasma. Anyway, thank you for your advice.
