one testicle of mine is noticably larger than the other. it feels like there's a sort of chunky substance in the scrotum and i have no idea what it is. i've had this for a couple of years and it really bothers me, especially because i'm not sure what it is. i've debated going into a doctor to have it checked out but i don't want my parents to know about it. if anyone can help me out at all i'd be very grateful.

Testicle growth?

You haven't been to a doctor in a couple of years? If you go, you can talk to the doctor in private. He's seen a lot of balls, and he won't think there's anything weird about your question. It's hard to say much, based on your description. Maybe it's a hydrocele (an accumulation of fluid) or an inguinal hernia. In any case, a visit to the doctor wouldn't hurt.
-
well i've had a yearly physical so i can play sports in school but the doctor didn't seem to notice anything but it really bothers me. Do you by chance know how hydrocele or inguinal hernia's are treated?
-
Keep in mind that those are just wild guesses. If you had either one of these, they doctor should have been able to find them by visual examintation, feeling them, and doing the turn-your-head-and-cough exercise.I'm not sure that you'd do anything with a hydrocele if it's not causing any problems. A hernia is repaired surgtically. There is also a structure called the epididymis, part of the tubing system that carries sperm from the testicle, that feels like a little moveabe lump on the testicle.
-
it's not the epididymis i'm sure but thank you for your help...just one more question, if you're under 18 can you see a physician without having your parents informed? it's not that i'm scared of them knowing it's just something i want to take care of myself and i just sort of don't want them to know.
-
I'm sure you can see a physician on your own, but I'm not sure how the privacy-from-parents thing works. You should call the doctor's office and find out. I'm sure they won't rat you out just for asking. But if you do go with a parent, you can surely speak to the doctor without your parents present. Why would having your parents find out about this be such a big deal, compared to any other medical issue?
-
it shouldn't be a big thing for me to just tell my parents about it, but for some reason i'm hesitant and i'd just prefer to try and handle it on my own for as long as i can.i'm going to try giving a call to a doctor's office today or tomorrowthank you a lot for your help, i appreciate it

You're welcome. Good luck.

Does feel like there are a bunch of thick cords or a "worm-like" feeling in the cords that run to the testicle? If so it may be a varicocele.http://kidshealth.org/teen/sexual_health/guys/varicocele.html
