Ive had little red bumps that are in my public hair are above my penis. Maybe little 10-15 little red bumps that almsot looks like zits. I didnt think anything of it, till it wouldnt go away. So i havnt really told anyone about this because I am very scared of it actully being herpes. So Ive been online alot looking this up. I desided to go the docter yesterday and showed him. He told me it was type one herpes. I started to panic. I am very sexually active not always with the same person. The more I looked into I think it looks more like folliculitis. After reading this and seeing this pic. http://www.afraidtoask.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=279221 The docter gave me som Valtrex pills to take and see what they do in a couple days. I just took the first couple today so Ill be able to tell what they do tomorrow or so he said. What do you guys think?..PLease help me. I am very nervous and scared about it.

They Say I Have Herpes. But I dont think so HELP
-
Well maybe you shouldn't screw every girl you meet? And if a doctor says you have herpes, then you probably do.
-
My wife had a case of folliculitis and the doctor initially had no clue and thought it was herpes.
-
herpes CAN NOT be diagnosed on sight and you doctor shouldn't be setting you into a panic nor writing perscriptions without tests. Herpes can be diagnosed with a urine/blood test now (yay... no more ouchy swabs!) If your doctor won't do it right, get down to the STD clinic right away. They also will help you with the coping mechanism if it is in fact serious.

been on valtrex for a few days and nothings changing...

do you shave your pubic area cuz it could be ingrow hairs cuz i used to shave with a razor and i would get them and i also thought i had herpes and now i shave with buzzers and i dont go down all the way and i dont get those bumps anymore so if you do shave it could be that and stop shaving and see if they go away
-
NO i dont not shave. I use a buzzer to trim it down a lil bit thats all. I have had these for over 2-3 months. I did blood test in June and passed it. But at that time i didnt have the bumps. The docter just looked at it. And said i had herpes
-
well friend, time to jump out and take our advice.let us know how things work out for youcheers

Herpes can't be diagnosed visually without a culture. 12 weeks past exposure, you can get a blood test to determine whether or not you have herpes type-I or type-II, but that still won't prove WHERE you're infected (oral, vs. genitals). The only way to know for sure is to get a culture AT THE VERY ONSET of an outbreak. However, cultures are frequently falsely negative, too.type-2 is typically a genital infection (but could infect the mouth).type-1 is typically cold sores, but could be spread to someone's genitals giving them a "milder" version of genital herpes than type-2.I too was visually diagnosed with herpes from a doctor, who put me on meds, but the culture came back negative. Over several years and with 6 negative blood tests during that time, I finally realized the doctor was wrong.Don't trust doctors, they see you for 3 minutes, charge you $200, and never follow up on their diagnoses. They are frequently wrong, but don't expect to get a refund! Good luck. And get a blood test. You can order it yourself here:http://www.healthcheckusa.comThey sell all sorts of blood tests, not just for STDs but for many other health issues.
