Ok, i've asked this before but lost the topic and found out new stuff but wanted to ask if anyone knew.Ok, my girlfriend is on Depo Vera the BC shot, and her period has been going for 3 weeks, she went to her doctor yesterday and her doctor said her body is "cleaning itself out" now I just find it a little hard to believe this doctor for a few reasons, but does anyone know if that's true? She is also low on iron and very anemic, would these two have anything to do with it?

Depo

I've asked my doc about depo and she said that half the ppl using it love it, while the other half hate it. The reason is that the people who love it, dont get a period at all, and the people who hate it get random and unpredictable bleeding. It really depends on the person, so if the bleedings continue, Depo probably isn't for her. My doc actually said that if you don't forget to take the pill regularly, and are experiencing not problems with it, then the pill is probably the best way (it's cheaper too i think). It made sense to me so i stuck with the pill...also cuz my mom's insurance covers most of the cost so i get a pack for $3 canadian.

ive been on the shot now for 11 monthes, i found the first 6 months awesome and then after my third shot im not so sure, recently like two weeks ago i bled for 3 weeks not really really heavily but it was still there as if i had my period. i find sex now can be painful at first just initial insertion and ive never had complications like that before, im extremely emotional all the time, i can be so happy and then something will make me mad like the stupidest thing or i can cry at the drop of a pin. the bleeding isnt irregular it does eventually go away and then sex life is wonderful again. im not really sure if i would recommend the shot to people knowing that it has different takes on each woman. Any one have any comments on Yasmin?

I still can't believe that you guys have to pay for your birth control...........over here we don't.
-
If you go to a clinic you don't have to pay for it. Personally I think that if you can afford it you should have to pay for it. It's not really a necesity in my opinion.
-
in canada you technically dont really have to pay as long as you keep your reciepts, when you get your t-4 or file your taxes you file for birth control and they will reinburse you

In reply to:It's not really a necesity in my opinion. I think it is a necessity, surley free contraception does cut down on unwanted pregnancies and parents, single and together, who then are on welfare when they have their children, not to mention the effect on the kids themselves.
-
You need food and shelter to live, those are necesities, not birth control, that's a want, but that's just my opinion again.
-
I do get your point Amanda, and yeah i agree its a 'want' not a 'need' but i still think it ought to be free like it is here.
-
Well like I said earlier, if I wanted it for free I would just walk into my local clinic, so technically it is free for those who want it.

I don't see what's the big deal. With a perscription, the pills are next to nothing (or free in clinics like Amanda said). If someone can't afford $5 a month for some, get condoms (they're free in any clinic)...plus if you can't afford $5 a month, then sex is the least of ur concerns.
