birth control pills i know are really effective. u dont have to worry about using condoms (if the guy is a virgin), about the condom breaking or slipping offf and things like that. but are there side effects to birth control pills? how about long term complications? i think i read somewhere that females who use birth control pills increase their chances of getting breast cancer and other diseases as they get older. so yeah, seems like the long term consequences seem harsh. :frowning:

Birth Control Pills - Are they really that great?

I'm not sure about the side affects, a lot of other people can help you on that one. But I must say, use a condom even if you're on birth control. The combination of the two is best.I'd hate to see a fellow asian pregnant when their not ready.

just because you get on the pill doesn't mean you shouldn't stop using condoms, they're good for STD protection as well as pregnancy, the pill isn't 100% effective, as for side effects; the most common are weight gain and a "morning sick" feeling, however i've never suffered from any of those neither have a lot of my friends, as far as cancers are concerned the pill is thought to help prevent and protect you from those, the pill overall is very safe and used to treat a variety of diseases/complications other than the usual not wanting to get pregnant

Yes, the pill is fantastic. Pregnancy is scary as hell to most of us, and as Amanda and Websex said, double protection is the way to go. Typically, if you're experiencing severe side effects your doctor will prescribe a different pill. Most people eventually find a pill that works for them with minimal side effects.

The early pills had high doses and side-effects could be significant, but modern pills have lower doses and are just as effective with minimal side-effects.

u dont have to worry about using condoms (if the guy is a virgin),I wouln't go by that standard. Many people these days are born with STIs.

some do it while on vacation or for a wedding, but it's not good to do on a consistant basis, there is a birth control pill out called seasonal in which you get your period every 3 months
