I know there has been quite a bit of discussion here around the topic of masturbation and Christianity and a lot of posts about whether it is right or wrong from a Christian perspective and how a Christian worldview does or does not create guilt around masturbation that is or is not warranted. Anyway, I've read quite a bit on the topic from christian authors and they pretty much run the gamut from "it's evil don't do it" to "the Bible is silent about it but you can't do it without lusting and that's a sin"...But recently I encountered an interesting book that took a totally surprising perspective. The book is The Struggle by Steve Gerali. He actually takes the position that masturbation is not only not sinful, it might actually be a gift from God. He even reframes the whole lust discussion by suggesting that what typically gets called lust is actually just "rehearsing". He draws an interesting distinction between the two that I still don't quite understand. Nonetheless, I think it is a very interesting book and could be quite helpful to some guys here who are trying to reconcile their faith and their wanking.

Interesting book on masturbation

sounds interesting. I don't know whether to think it's a person defending his belief to masturbate, or whether it's someone just trying to sell books by making people who do such things feel as if they are right by siding with them. Anytime someone is doing something wrong, they will usually take to anyone who supports them and tells them they are in the right. Anywho, thanks for the heads up on the book. Will look into it and if I read it soon, I'll post my review on it.
