Ok, my sister wants me to get the shot with her but I think that I do better on the pill. I am VERY afraid of needles so that is another reason I think that I should stay on the pill. What do you guys think? Do you think that I should stay on the pill or get the shot?

The shot

If you have no trouble taking the pill when you're supposed to every day, within a few hours, and you're not having any side effects from the pill, and if cost is not an issue, then stay on the pill.

If your unsatisified with the pill go on the patch, if your dealthy afraid to needles lmao i wouldnt suggest getting the shot. Only switch if you want to.

I would suggest NOT taking the shot!
At one point it was given to sex offenders in order to subdue the drive... and that it does!
I've heard weight gain is a very common side effect (I had the depo-provera shot & yet did not experience this as I have no problem balancing weight) I experienced a heavy onset of depression after taking the shot... and my sex drive was nearly non-existant. There are numerous side effects --all of which my doctor failed to note (Even though, I asked "what are the side effects.. i've heard about the weight gain issue.."). I was livid about a month receding the taking of the shot.. I probably should have taken it to court.
Anyway, if you do choose to take the shot... please read up on it 'cause you can't trust the health industry for sh*t, and you don't want to deal with what goes along with that!!
Take care!!

yeh ive heard that the shot does reduce libido, ive heard that quite a lot actually. however, you cant really pin that down, we all react to things differently, one woman might find she has no side effects wheras the other will have a whole list of side effectsit takes time finding out whats good for you BC wise, i took me a wee bit to find a good pill that suited me

I wouldnt recommend the shot.. apparently in the long run it causes your bones to get really weak.. My aunt gave me the lecture last week.

Right, right. The main point of my post was to suggest knowing about the drugs possible side effects and manifestations... They want to give it because it's easy to dispense and surely very cheap for the companies...Okay, here... just found this page http://www.abcinternetmarketing.com/depo-provera/Take care

I am phobic about needles and I got the shot about 4 years the first time and 2 years the second time. After a while it gets easier to get them. There is a draw back to the shot. Well sort of. It can take 6 to 18 months to get pregnant.

I probably should have taken it to court.Like someone previous said, everyone has different side affects, i work at planned parenthood and we give approx 5 depo provera injections a day, and iv never had anyone complain, except maybe a 5-10 lb weight gain....which is caused by you eating more, not just magical pounds being put on, it increases your appetite. I have been on the shot for 4 years and havnt had any problems, i love not remembering the pill everyday, and the injection itself is barely felt, just a tiny sting, since i get it in my bum. And as far as the bone loss, as long as you get 1,000 mg calcium a day your just like the rest of us. and the new viactive chews for women are 1,000 mg, perfect. But also if your happy with the pills, dont change, when u find something that works for u, stick with it.

At one point it was given to sex offenders in order to subdue the drive... and that it does!Male sex offenders. Does it generally cause a decrease in sex drive for women?Oral birth control pills also reduce sex drive in some women. Sometimes one formulation will, but another one won't.Brown University's Student Health Services site says:In reply to:Prolonged use may result in significant loss of bone density. The FDA suggests that Depo-Provera should only be used as a long-term birth control method (longer than 2 years) if other birth control methods are inadequate.Bone Density and Hormonal Contraception from The Contraception Report, Sept. 2003:In reply to:What impact do contraceptives have on bone?Hormonal contraceptives (birth control pills, injectables, the patch, and the vaginal ring) decrease the amount of estrogen a woman's body produces. Many of these methods also contain estrogen, however, which balances the overall effect. As a result, combined hormonal methods such as the pill, patch, and vaginal ring appear to have no negative effect on a woman's bone density and may actually improve it.On the other hand, injectable contraception that contains only progestin (depot medroxyprogesterone acetate, known as DMPA or Depo-Provera) can affect bone density. Some adult women using DMPA lose bone density faster than those not using the method. The longer DMPA is used, the greater the effect. This bone loss is not large, however, and appears to be reversible. Once a woman stops using injectable contraception, her bone density increases over time. In addition, no evidence exists to show that teenagers or women who use DMPA are any more likely to suffer bone fractures. All women using DMPA, especially teenagers, should eat a diet rich in calcium and other nutrients, take a multivitamin, and strengthen their bones through regular weight-bearing exercise. It looks like a combined hormonal injection will be introduced soon, and will hopefully address the bone density issue.

“At one point it was given to sex offenders in order to subdue the drive... and that it does!”Giving a man the pill or the patch or any progesterone base birth control will decrease his sex drive. And I would bet that your lowered sex drive was due to the depression. Some birth control pills cause those kinds of problems for me.
