I realize this may have been asked numerous times, but I am wondering if it is possible to catch an STD by recieving oral sex? I am male, and I simply wondering if it is possible to catch an STD from someone while recieving a blowjob. Is this possible? What forms can you recieve this way? Can you get deadly ones like HIV/Aids?

"Though there's admittedly less risk of STIs in oral sex than in vaginal or anal sex, the risk still exists. You can get a bacterial infection of chlamydia, syphilis or gonorrhea in your mouth and/or throat, and in some rarer occasions, can develop genital warts in the mouth. Herpes is commonly passed between genitals and the mouth, and HIV can be passed through cuts in the mouth or small abrasions." http://www.pamf.org/teen/sex/std/oral/

Hello.I figured that this was the best place on the board to ask this question.Last week, this girl and I were passionately kissing. We both gave each other toungue. We did not have sex. But about two days later I got a small pimple just above my upper lip that occasionally has a small puss-like discharge. Yesterday, I developed a sore-throat and it is a little worse today. I saw a skin doctor today who said that the pimple appeared to be "herpes", but we did not discuss the sore throat. I am not saying that I contracted anything from her, but I do not know a lot about the girl so I don't know if she has anything like that.Is there a difference between genital and oral herpes a/k/a cold sores? And does anyone think that the sore throat may have something to do with this "herpes" above my upper lip? Thanks for helping me out with this question.

all i know is if you have oral herpes, like your cold sore- if you perform oral sex on someone, there is the possiblity that this can be transferred and the person could get genital herpes.
