What is your prefrence. Do you belive that god gives us what we have, or do you belive it is already etched in stone and the future is set. I have had so mnay things happen to me that had one thing right after another which led to what i wanted. Such as, there was this girl in the halls i would always see. I liked her. Then she was in my art class. She was at a different table so I couldnt really talk to her. Then all of a sudden for some reason she starts going out with this guy at my table so she move over to my table. She seems to like me back. I didnt really know what to do. Then one night i woke up in the middle of the night changed to the movie station. Fast times at ridgemont high was on. I watched it and that taught me some stuff. Stuff like this do you belive occurences like this are Fate or Acts of God?

God Or Fate?

You do realize that your asking for opinions right?an opinion is based on what people belive in all aspects not just if they think its god or fate.if thats what your asking for Ill choose neither.I do not belive in fate and I find it even harder to belive in a god of any sort.in this case I choose coincidence. if people rspond to this question youll get a great many answers none of them will answer anything for you other then to say what the general opinion of people who are members of this site think on god, fate, and religous mystery.
-
Im just asking weather you think there is a god and gives us what we get or its somthing else that leads to coinsidences.
-
Then Ill say coincidence.

**personally i don't beleive in god, for a multitude of reasons..............not sure i beleive that our lives are all mapped out either, but i do beleive that you make a lot of things happen yourself, if you are the kind of person to see an opportunity and make the most of them then a lot of good happens in your life. **

I personally don't know what to believe regarding that. As humans, there is so much we do not know. Why does the universe exist the way it does, how did the laws that govern the way things are come to be... did they just exist... were they created... if they were created then what created the creator... or if things weren't created and have just always been then where did everything come from?On a much simpler level with the question you're asking, it's impossible to factually determine one way or the other. Personally, I believe that most of every day life just happens by a person's motivations, their environment, and some amount of chance. Based upon the choices you make and the choices other people make, things happen. I remember hearing something along these lines from Steve, but it makes perfect sense: people try to rationalize common occurances in order to make better sense of them. Maybe there is a reason for everything that happens, but isn't it more likely that things just happen because they happen? I believe predominantly in non-determination, although as I've said there is much more to the question if you want to make it complicated (I love making things complicated )

I believe in both, but I think your situation sounds more like a coincidence

I believe in God and believe that He has certain plans for me. But I can screw those up even. I also believe there are a lot of things that are up to me.I also believe in chance, coincidence and that sort of thing. That being said, most things in life don't just "happen" to me. I have to make it happen. Even if it is God's will that I be a therapist and have a certain kind of life, and even if the particular job in the particular area that I want opens up "coincidentally", I still have to act on it and do my part to make it happen. It's a mix.

In reply to:I also believe in chance I woud hope so, Chance has given you many tips on good books and made you stink after you shaved, thats enough evidence of Chance.seriously though, alot of people feel like there is a god, of those not alot belive that everythig is predestined and wil happen all beyond your control. Most of them have th same thoughts as Damien, or atleast the ones Iv met seem to thin along these same lines

It's hard to explain but I don't think God controls the events in your life because we were granted freewill and I don't think your life is already "etched in stone". I think one event in your life leads you on a new path and one event can change everything. More like a cause and effect sort of deal.
