are they, can u gain muscle from them? i mean chicken eggs of course.

Are eggs considered meat?
-
They do contain protein so yes you can gain muscle from them.. if you work out that is..
-
y not eat the yolk?
-
I eat both
-
The yolk is high cholesterol and also the most abundant source of nutrients in the egg. It isn't bad for you, it is actually very good nutrionally (a certain amount of cholesterol in the diet is necessary for such things as hormone production). Eggs aren't the kind of food you'd want to eat every day if you have high blood pressure, but otherwise they are great.

And as far as being "meat", I'd consider them alternative, but they are an animal product and are a good source of protein. But also remember that a lot of vegetables contain amino acids (the building blocks of different kinds of protein) also found in animals that we need in our diet, such as soy, lentils, and a variety of other non-animal based foods. Animal protein isn't the only way of building muscle.

Eggs are the best source of protein avaliable, apart from whey protein which can only be found in powders etc.

will eggs give u more muscles then meat like steak?if so ill start eatign them alot more
-
Depends on your serving size you take in. I imagine you can actually eat more eggs than steak, so I'd say yes. Protein is the key nutrient that repairs your muscles after you're done tearing them down after working out.Do I consider eggs meat? I personally don't. It's just egg. I consider chicken poultry... so if I had to consider egg to be something, I would consider it poultry... that is if we're talking about chicken eggs. (0:

It really won't matter too much unless you have a very intense bodybuilding regimine. So long as you get enough protein (and yes, eggs are a good way of increasing protein) who will not notice the difference between the two. Now if you were a hardcore weightlifter like Helms then it would be a little different because you'd want to make sure that you're getting the most effective blends of amino acids (whey protein is the best as kmrobins said). What is your training like? In an average week, what kind of work out do you do?EDIT: The point about being able to eat more eggs than steak was good though. You want to try to eat as much as you can if you want to put on any sort of weight. You may put on a little fat this way too, but the idea is that you then scale back a bit and lose that fat, but you'll have gained muscle as well and the end result is more muscle than at the beginning.

What is the BV rating I see associated with protein? This measures the amount of protein ( or more precisely - the nitrogen) retained in the human body per gram of protein absorbed. This measure started out as a percentage - with a whole egg being at the top of the chart - 100% nitrogen absorbed. However, things got a little more confusing when Whey Protein was discovered. The problem is whey is a better source of protein than an egg - so it actually scores higher than 100. This means the percentage must be dropped - because greater than 100% does not make much sense. So, today BV is a number which lets you compare different types of protein. Here is the BV of some common foods:Protein BVWhey isolate 110-159Whey concentrate 104Whole egg 100Cow's milk 91Egg white 88Fish 83Beef 80Chicken 79Casein 77Soy 74Rice 59Wheat 54Beans 49This was taken from http://www.powersupplements.com/protein.htm there's a fair bit of good info there if you want to check it out. Turned out kinda messy when I copied and pasted it though.
